Bella Italia! Italy never disappoints when it comes to beautiful views and unforgettable food. That’s why so many couples choose it at a destination spot where their friends and family from all over the world can come together and celebrate. That’s exactly what Lauren + Alex had in mind when they began planning their Tuscan wedding at Locanda in Tuscany Bed and Breakfast. Together with event planners, Italian Eye, they designed an elegant and intimate evening inspired by the beauty of Italy. Local food, wine, and florals shined under graceful chandeliers and guests got to dance the night away in the Italian countryside.
Here’s what L had to say about how the day came together:
We wanted the evening to feel like the best dinner party our guests had ever been to! Celebrating with our dear friends and family from the US, UK, and Australia under chandeliers in the middle of a field well into the night is not something I will soon forget. And all of the many people who made it happen – from the caterers, to the photographers, to the florist, to the venue staff – deserve to have all of the credit!! Thank you for making our day so magical.
Jess Withey Photography, the photographer that L had been crushing on even before her engagement, was there to capture these seriously gorgeous images. Scroll along with us and let’s take it all in!
The Charming Italian Venue
How’s this for a perfectly quaint and charming Italian wedding venue?! L + A wanted to treat their guests to a relaxing and low-key celebration and were instantly in love with the cozy feel and amazing hospitality of this picturesque bed and breakfast.
Bridal Beauty
L looked so elegant in her sleek and minimalist gown. We absolutely love how the fabric of this dress hangs and drapes behind her. Perfect for a low-key Tuscan wedding day! Knot Your Average Bride nailed an effortless bridal ponytail and natural makeup look!
Crushing on the Photog
Even before the engagement, L was 100% set on having her girl crush photographer capture her special day. Just looking at these images, we can see why! This sweet story perfectly shows how important your wedding vendors are. It’s all about having the right team of people there to execute the day! We’ll let L tell you about it in her own words:
In a roundabout way, this story starts when I found my wedding photographer in 2013, while admiring one of my sorority sister’s elegant but personal wedding photos. I started following Jess Withey on Instagram and soon developed a girl crush! Jess remembered me from my “hey I’m still single but totally love your style and want you to photograph my wedding someday” email and put me in touch with our wedding planner, Angela from Italian Eye who was the perfect match for us to create the dreamy outdoor low-key wedding we envisioned.
Tuscan Wedding Ceremony
Fiammetta Dogi Illustration designed these watercolor wedding invitations inspired by local Italian flowers and herbs. They go perfectly with the florals that Design by Nature created for the wedding day. L knew she wanted to incorporate local blooms and greens. They totally nailed the simple aesthetic with whimsical olive branches at the ceremony and a garland of olive and rust-toned wildflowers for the reception dinner.
Italian Wedding Reception
Nothing says Tuscan wedding like adorable and authentic local details. This vintage Italian truck made a perfect mini bar for the reception!
Dinner Party Under the Stars
WOW! Is this setup even real?? The extra long family-style dining table, the minimalist but elegant chandeliers and that view! 100% perfection!!
L + A said they wanted their wedding to feel like the best dinner party their guests had ever attended and they didn’t miss a beat!!
If I could recommend one thing to all couples planning your wedding – choose suppliers that feel like friends and family, it will make the day so much more fun!! And of course, remember that the day is just a day, a wedding, a celebration, a party. The real deal is the lifelong commitment you are making with the love of your life. Have fun ☺
Guests got to dine on local cuisine from Ristorante i Vecchi Amici. We love this intimate setup that feels like one big family dinner! Check out this other feature to see The Most Beautiful Dining Setups for an Unforgettable Wedding Reception! (It features another gorgeous Tuscan wedding!!)
As they say in Italy, Viva gli Sposi! Lauren + Alex, we absolutely loved your beautiful and magical Tuscan wedding. Congratulations from the GWS team!!
