Modern DIY Bride: Earth Tones + Leather Details for this NorCal Wedding

Planning

Modern Rustic California Wedding

It’s a DIY wedding like you’ve never seen before. Perhaps 2020 is the year of the modern DIY bride. Brides, like Courtnee, who take specific + meaningful ideas, dedicate time to these projects and produce rad, authentic results!

Courtnee shares their wedding inspiration + some major #DIY details: Our venue was my Aunt and Uncle’s house in Northern California. It’s a particularly special place because it’s where we got engaged. My Uncle even officiated our ceremony! Additionally what was most important to us were the meaningful wedding details. From the macrame swings, signage + engraved leather place cards to the table numbers, menus + isle runner, everything was a custom design DIY. We loved all the details – even the individual paint strokes on the invitations (because texture is everything)!

With help from Alluring Events & Design, C + R’s wedding will definitely make you want to step up your DIY game! It’ll also give you some gorgeous modern wedding inspiration, and reinvigorate your love for earth tones (if you needed it).

Let’s head to NorCal – Elizabeth Warrick captured this sweet, DIY-filled day:

Hello, Angels Petals! These florals are the best parts of earthy, modern bohemian styles. We’re here for the mustard-gold pops against the mismatched bridesmaids dresses!

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Our biggest goal for this day was to have an epic and beautiful party – and we did! We wanted it to be something that fully represented us. The bar was called ‘Bally’s Bar,’ because that is Ryan’s nickname (Bally)… and he built the entire thing! And our dessert wall was called ‘Courts Cravings,’ because, if you know me, you know my favorite meal of the day is dessert! Seeing all of these details come together was wonderful.

DIY Reception Details

The earth tones at these reception tables tell a very neutral, relaxed but elegant story. The napkins + runners from La Tavola Fine Linen pull in cream + cinnamon tones that help tie the palette together.

Dessert Wall For Days

Wow…we’re going to need a minute after taking in this dessert wall. Batter Up Cakery knocked it out of the park! The shelves, the colors, the macrame + details – nothing was left un-designed. We love DIY weddings!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

So many hours were spent designing this wedding, and all of its little details – we loved every minute of it! I really encourage brides to indulge in this part of wedding planning. It helps you to slow down and enjoy the time BEFORE the big day. Pick out anything that brings you joy or represents you as a couple; whether that’s a specific flower or even a shape! Figure out how to incorporate it into your special day, more than once. Colors, textures + shapes really inspired us.
