Simone and Jack’s DTLA wedding is filled with all the classics of the city: architecture, design, and a creative couple at the center! The obvious case in point, Simone’s floral wedding dress…handmade by her mother! We got the scoop on how the dress came to be, but first, here’s a bit about the inspiration behind the day from Simone:
We didn’t have a theme for the wedding but knew there had to be a few key elements. Awesome music, great food and a venue that reflected our vibe as a couple. We love exploring urban cities and I’m a native Angeleno, so being surrounded by tall skyscrapers and the historic architecture of the DTLA library felt really magical and quintessentially Los Angeles.

The Handmade Floral Wedding Dress
Simone knew she wanted a classic silhouette with a unique flair to it. Inspired by a black ball gown with huge flowers from the 2015 Elie Saab Fall Couture show, Simone scoured the internet for the perfect hand-painted flowers, color corrected them to match the theme, and had them printed at large scale on chiffon. From there, her mother hand-stitched them on to the imported Italian fabric of her two-piece gown. Isn’t it just stunning?!
So gorgeous!
The First Look
The best!
Simone and Jack hopped around DTLA’s most iconic locations for some killer photos.
From modern to historic…love these!
That’s a hard one. Either when we were walking around Disney Hall with our photographer after the wedding and a literal busload of tourists chased after us to take our picture. Or during our first dance when all our friends jumped up halfway through the song and started dancing with us. That really got the party started.
Just one more look at that amazing skirt…

Romantic Reception
Simone added a few DIY touches to the day, including the welcome sign and the centerpiece florals. (Which, by the way, she recommends not doing if you want to relax the day-of!)
Never enough flowers! Such a fun + creative day. All our congrats to Simone and Jack!
