Donkeys on your wedding day? It’s a thing, and let us tell you — it’s a CUTE thing! We’ve seen llamas, alpacas, and of course, dogs, steal the show (and the Instagram photo ops) and now, burros are stepping up to the plate. In today’s case, they are the perfect addition to a southwest-styled wedding. Maybe it’s all the cool desert plant life, or the essence of the wild, wild west; regardless, we’re always here for a wedding style like this!
Beer burros have been a smash hit at weddings, events + even children’s birthday parties. In addition to serving lightweight libations (the load is light for these strong animals), they also serve as ADORABLE photo-bombers…especially when they’re adorned in fresh floral garland.
The team at Swanky Soiree Events served up some serious southwest wedding inspiration, and we’re thirsty for more! Thanks to Everence Photography, we’ll be scrolling through this all day:
Custom Paper Goods
The custom stationery from Shannon Kirstin Illustrations brings a little whimsy to this Southwest boho vibe!
Southwestern Boho Bride
This is our kind of dress! The Sauvignon cotton wedding dress, by Claire Pettibone, has statement sleeves layered with Guipure lace appliques, and they’re utterly romantic.
We’re just loving these colors! How handsome does this groom look in that deep teal suit from Express?!
Adding a bridal hat to your wedding day look can be a fun addition (for even a few pictures)!
Here are a few ways to saddle up with the Bridal Hat trend.
Wow! This bridal bouquet checks all our boxes. Kristin of Ivy & Vine Floral Design shares inspiration for her design: When I think of the southwest, I think of bold, Aztec textile patterns, cactus + warm sunsets, with soft, muted colors of peach + sky blue. I wanted these designs to reflect that with cacti incorporated in the bouquet; soft textures of pampas grass + contrasting spiked textures of grevillea. The bridal bouquet was designed to not overpower the bride, but make bold statements with quicksand roses, blue nigella, queen protea, peach ranunculus, blushing bride protea, pampas grass + mixed greenery.
Bring in the Burros
What could compliment a southwestern boho wedding better than beer burros? Introducing Grace Kelly + Coco Chanel, the only beer burros in all of Florida, with Glamorass Ranch Beer Burros! These sweet + strong animals deliver thirst-quenching beverages and, in our opinion, totally steal the show.
If you’re curious about the idea of beer burros, we were, too. Turns out donkeys are companion animals, meaning they enjoy being around people and are willing to carry the load. For centuries they’ve transported packing supplies, farm equipment, and even people. Now, they’re getting a little glow-up with floral wreaths and darling baskets!
Bridal hats – we just love ’em! This hat, from Urban Outfitters, makes for a rad, Southwestern addition to her bridal style. The color reminds us of desert sand.
Table for Two
A cute sweetheart setting for two with rentals from So Staged.
Cacti Cake
Holy YUM this 4-tiered Southwest show-stopper by Cakes by Ron is incredible. We love the subtle Southwest colors they incorporated…not to mention the cacti topper.
Bridal Braid Babe
Okay, we’ve heard of sprayed baby’s breath in wedding decor...but in wedding hair?! Obsessed!
Our ten-gallon hat’s off to this sweet, Southwestern wedding inspiration!
