When you’re a *wedding* dress designer, a romantic proposal is just cause for new dress designs for your engagement photoshoot! Right? That’s at least what it meant for Rebecca, Founder + Designer of Rebecca Schoneveld in Brooklyn, New York.
Rebecca gleefully shares: We decided to do an engagement shoot because, honestly, I can’t resist an excuse to make new gowns! I LOVE crafting wedding gowns in rich colors, and although I wasn’t sure yet what color I would wear for my ceremony, I really wanted to create some of the ideas I’d been brewing, and show them off to the world (hopefully to inspire future brides of mine!).
Now that’s the way to step into an engagement – fashionably forward, über in love! Ready for these trendy engagement shoot moments captured by NicoleWagner? Let’s strut-
Emerald Queen
Both gowns are shapes from my collection that we cut in new fabrics. The jewel toned green satin one moved so well and I’m obsessed with the chiffon wing cape that my team made. We worked so hard on getting this bodice fit just right — it’s low in the front and back but still feels secure and supportive. I opted to leave the front of the skirt open to show off shoes + legs.
Golden Engagement Glow
We cannot get enough of that sheer cape – what amazing movement!
Double Dresses
Talk about a floral bombshell! Rebecca shares insight on this next look: The second gown was just incredibly fun to wear. Big colorful prints make me endlessly happy, and this floral Italian mikado worked so well in our new “Emilia” gown shape. I decided last minute to throw on the green velvet sash (a color and texture I never tire of), and finished the look with a pair of blush floral hoops by Hushed Commotion.
We second this fashion motion! And never tire of the chic accessories from Hushed Commotion.
Feelin’ Floral
That velvet, olive belt is a must-have. We’d never take it off!
We held the shoot at a public park on the Hudson River because we had several sweet dates there, including one particularly memorable picnic which lasted until well after sunset. I actually thought Michael might propose there at some point (and turns out he had that thought, too). It felt fun to create photographs that reminded us of our first summer together.
Well, we’re 100% smitten with these dresses + this couple! Congratulations on your engagement, R + M. Can’t wait for the big day!
