Seeking an otherworldly elopement? Look no further than Milos, Greece.
We’re seeing more + more couples opting to have an adventure elopement, reciting their vows against a wanderlust backdrop surrounded by their nearest + dearest. These intimate, destination elopements satisfy everyone’s travel itch, from the newlyweds to the honored guests. Greece often tops the bucket list, so it’s no wonder that “destination wedding” and “Greece” have become nearly synonymous in recent years.
While the sunsets of Santorini and the vibrance of Mykonos never fail to impress, all too often these islands overshadow the many other breathtaking landscapes that this Mediterranean gem offers. One of our favorites is a secluded, chalky white beach hidden on the small island of Milos. The stark volcanic rock formation mimics a lunar terrain, and dazzles against the deep azure + turquoise shades of the Aegean Sea.
Are you seeing stars? More inspiration from this editorial is shared: Hailed as one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, Sarakiniko served as both the main inspiration and canvass for this celestial–inspired editorial. With the combined vision and experience of the planners at Lily of the Valley and travel experts from SheFari, we created a moonscape here on earth.
The magic of it all was artfully captured by Adrian Wood using luxury film stock, playing with the pre-dawn delicate light + vibrant hues. We’re absolutely enchanted – follow along:
Paper Goods
Soft, minimal, modern + memorable. We love this stationery suite by Love Me Do. How can you go wrong with the rad color of that save the date?! The inspiration pulled right out of the colors of the Aegean Sea.
Celestial Ceremony
This ethereal ceremony was held against a cosmic backdrop of rounded arches, skillfully crafted by Studio 7 and reminiscent of the different lunar phases.
Hello, smoke show!
Starry Eyed Bride
S-T-U-N-N-E-R! This masterpiece wedding gown was designed by Celia Kritharioti, an internationally-renowned Greek designer. The airy, silver dress has star motifs that fit perfectly with this celestial vibe.
Look closely – the sparkly bridal shoes by Bella Belle have custom star-shaped jewels to complete this bridal look!
The rich, silver jewelry + hairpiece, from Mindy Lam, pull deep blue hues out from her wedding dress, and we’re loving the continued celestial theme going on.
Romantic Man
Yes! This groom nailing his upscale Mediterranean island look from Christakis – especially loving that oversized bowtie.
Oh, how we love this design approach + inspiration from the team: From Shakespearian verses to modern pop songs, lovers have sworn their affections by the moon and stars for centuries. How great was Juliet’s clever quip that the faces of the moon were too changing? We feel you, girl. In celebration of strong women then and now, we dusted off this literary cliché and breathed new life into it, bringing authenticity and modernity through an ethereal elopement.
Celestial Reception
A divine crescent moon arrangement hanging over the elopement reception table, definitely completes this interstellar mood! And how about those star-shaped sun catchers hanging from the moon? Totally dreamy.
These layered linens add so much romance + texture to the reception set up! Speckled glass plates and unique flatware make for a very memorable spot.
Interstellar Moments
Marbled Muse
Marbled wedding cakes make our hearts sing; particularly when they’re adorned with whimsical flowers! This marble marvel created by Pavlov’s Lab.
Grecian Elopement
And don’t miss the romantic video below by Nikos Dimou!
It isn’t the first time we’ve been star struck by celestial wedding designs…and we have a feeling it won’t be the last 🙂
We love this styling to the moon + back!
