If the coronavirus pandemic has taught us one thing, it’s to throw out the rule book…especially when it comes to wedding celebrations! Whether you ended up exchanging vows in your parents’ backyard, or are planning a winter wedding instead of summer…the only right way to have a wedding these days is to just roll with it! If it’s a public declaration of your commitment + enduring love, the rest will fall into place.
That’s exactly why we’re obsessed with Hilary + Courtney’s moody celestial wedding that, above all, demonstrates how beautiful winter weddings are (especially for anyone who has to postpone due to coronavirus)!
H + C are a match made in the stars…and their wedding represents that. Here’s their inspiration for the day: We both wanted a super fun light-hearted love party! We fell in love with the celestial theme and moody color tones which we felt worked for December. Since it was an outdoor winter wedding, we wanted to stick with a moon theme; plus romantic candles + sparkly lighting.
We wanted to incorporate a lot of small details to represent the two of us, like crafted cocktails named after our pups, and peonies since it was the first bouquet of flowers when we were dating. Music is our biggest obsession, so we incorporated a ton of music into our wedding that reflected our individual taste and us a couple (Hello, Neil Young)!
With planning help from Modern Reb Co., these two make winter in Southern California look goooood! Alexandria Monette Photography beautifully captured this colorful, lovely celebration:
Wow, These Winter Brides
We’re going to stop things right here, and address this bridal bouquet by The Velvet Florist. Holy buckets, those peonies! The rich, juicy winter reds pop gorgeously against Hilary’s dress. And Courtney shines in that blue suit from Sharpe Suiting.

Newlyweds!
Hilary’s dress from Dreamers and Lovers is lacy + luscious. With that, all the navy and merlot colors blend so well with the scenery outside.

Navy Blue Reception
As far as reception scenes go, this one’s stunning + celestial! We love the navy blue linens and starry details.
Doughnuts for Dessert
God’s Country Provisions making our mouths water with these celestial, marbled dessert donuts.
Everyone told us to not flip out if things do not go 100% to plan. That was the best advice we received, because no matter how detailed your plans are there will be a few things that will change. You just have to roll with it. If you have the budget, find a wedding planner! They save your life and your sanity. We found one that was the best fit for us and they managed every detail, ensuring everything flowed perfectly!
