What a huge pleasure it is to be supporting our Little Book Wedding Directory member, the incomparably talented Georgina Harrison today.
Georgina is a North Yorkshire based wedding photographer whose style and whole vibe I utterly adore. She was chosen by couple Freya and Charlie to document their rainy but none-the-less beautiful wedding day in July last year.
Events Manager Freya married Football Scout Charlie on 27th July at the bride’s parent’s house overlooking Lake Bassenthwaite, in the Lake District, where Charlie also proposed.
“We wanted the day to feel very ‘us’, a really relaxed vibe with chilled styling in our favourite place for our huge number of family and friends to enjoy the celebrations! It was very special to marry at at my parent’s home where we have many memories with our family and friends.”

“Georgina ran the show – she captured every moment and took no time at all for the ‘couple shots’. The moments she captured when we didn’t even notice she was there are unbelievable. Georgina had captured my brother and sister-in-laws wedding – we knew she would be perfect.”
“Our film maker James Oliver worked hand in hand with Georgina (they’d never even met before). The photographs and video compliment each other so well. James is so talented and captured everything”
“I had worked with Kenneth Soh through work and had always dreamed of him doing my makeup, I couldn’t believe it when he was delighted to be asked. Along with Georgina and James he made the morning so fun!”
The gorgeous, seasonal blooms came by way of florist Pip at The Flower Folk.
The bride had her Grandmothers broach sewn into her bouquet too.
“After debating for ages I decided to wear Kurt Geiger shoes I bought in Heathrow before I flight to LA for work – they were perfect, so comfy (and covered in mud by the end)!”
Freya decided to opt for a beautiful, modern top and skirt combo by our fave, Rime Arodaky, which of course, she discovered at The Mews Bridal boutique in Notting Hill.
“The Mews Bridal was the first shop I went to and after ‘double checking’ at many other places it was clear Rime was the designer for my style ‘A Bridal House for Rebel Goddesses’ as they put it ‘we are for the wild ones!”
“Rime herself helped me choose ‘the one’ between two dresses, that was an incredibly special day with my Mum and Justine from The Mews Bridal – I couldn’t have wished for a more special day.”
Freya’s bridesmaids wore beautiful pale blue dresses from Oasis Fashion.
“I hadn’t seen anything like the dress I wore before which I loved – the detail was unbelievable, even the lace was individually sewn in the Paris Studio to fit my shape. I felt like me in the two pieces but a version I’d always dreamed of feeling. I knew Charlie would love it too.
For her wedding day scent, the bride chose ‘YSL Elle‘ – the scent she has always worn.
“I wore the veil that was recommended for the dress from The Mews Bridal.”
Since Freya is an Event Manager, the couple decided against hiring in professional planning support and decided to do everything themselves.
“We met at a mutual friend’s birthday drinks in Soho, London and have been inseparable ever since! Charlie proposed by Lake Bassenthwaite and we married a year to the day at the church on the Lake.”
The groom wore a suave suit from Reiss, and couldn’t, his bride says, resist pulling on a pair of Bradford City socks!
“Luckily we had a few cars within the family to pick from for our short drive to the church. We used a local minibus firm to shuttle guests to / from the church to the house and onto their accommodation at the end of the night.”
Freya’s father accompanied her to the ceremony to the sound of Coldplay’s ‘O’ and the couple had a service conducted by Reverend Peter Gilroy of St Begas Church.

Readings included ‘I Wana Be Yours’, by John Cooper-Clark – read by Freya’s Uncle Stuart. Charlie’s mum read ‘1 Corinthians 13:4-12’.
Freya’s engagement ring was originally her Grandmother’s, so it is particularly special. Her wedding band was purchased in Rox, Newcastle after being plied with champagne – it’s perfect and simple to compliment the engagement ring.
Charlie’s wedding band was designed and made by a local jeweller in his home town Shipley.
“I had a really specific idea of how I wanted the clear marquee designed and the flowers were a huge part of this. Pip at The Flower Folk. took the photos I showed her and created the perfect venue for us.”
“She draped branches across the ceiling and used dried flowers which looked beautiful and different. Pip worked hand in hand with Vicki at Pins, Petals & Powder – it looked magical!”
“Sticking to local suppliers, we used Karen Rhodes. Following a couple of emails explaining what we fancied we turned up to a tasting and there wasn’t one item we changed. We knew we wanted ‘family style’, Mediterranean food, which was substantial and excellent quality.”
“We extended the drinks reception with many canapé in place of a starter and had a choice of chocolate brownie and custard or Eton mess for dessert.”
“Charlotte and Lucy at Karen Rhodes were absolutely incredible!”
“We’re very lucky in that a friend of ours designed our wedding stationary as a wedding gift.”
“We tried to use as many local suppliers as possible and Sally from The Yummy Pudding Co. She recreated a cake from a photo we had found and combined it with the most incredible sponge flavours.”
“Everyone commented on the cake and we saved the cutting of it for the 2nd day of celebrations (where we repurposed the drinks tent).”
As for her favourite moments, Freya says;
“I’m not sure I could ever find the words to describe walking into the church and becoming Charlie’s wife. Seeing everyone I love so happy and having such an amazing time. Charlie’s speech was incredible.”
The couple held a first dance to Coldplay’s ‘A Sky Full Of Stars’…
“I can’t stand cheesy first dances so this gave us 30 seconds to have a lovely moment on the dance floor before we welcomed all of our guests to dance the night away!”
“My sister in law is a musician so we weren’t short of recommendations – her friends runs a music label so we booked the band he had for his wedding and they were brilliant. They welcomed me with open arms when I decided it was time to get on stage and have a sing-along!”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“We didn’t have a set budget per say but knew the elements we were happy to spend £ on and areas we weren’t so bothered about. It was mega expensive but don’t regret spending a penny, we were very lucky to be able to do so.”
“Great food, lots of booze, music and dancing…that’s all you need!”
“Do it your way and enjoy every minute, you’ll miss the madness once it’s over.”
“Have a little break together before the big day – get a tan, relax and get excited.”
“We weren’t stressed about the weather – it was always going to rain in the Lake District and it actually made the day!! Everyone was inside the marquee dancing the night away from beginning to end.”
