Caitlin and Joel’s Petra Treasury wedding was surrounded by deep history and filled with a spirit of adventure! They wed at night in front of the Treasury surrounded by dim candlelight. The Treasury or “Al-Khazneh” is one of the most elaborate temples in Petra, a city of the Nabatean Kingdom, where Arabs lived in ancient times. Caitlin shared a favorite memory from the ceremony:
My most memorable moment was the feeling I had when I finally reached the Treasury. For the past year, I had only been able to imagine what it would feel like to be standing in Petra with Joel, my family, and friends by my side. Actually living in that moment was a different story. There were thousands of candles throughout the Siq and in front of the Treasury. The way it lit up, Petra was indescribable! I remember the low light from the candles and the fragrance of the incense. I remember feeling the love from Joel and from everyone that was with us. And most of all, I remember just the insane amount of energy that was radiating within the Treasury. It was a pretty crazy feeling.

Petra Treasury Wedding at Night
The Treasury is open to the public during the day and only available to book for events at nighttime. So, that’s what they did!
Tyler admitted that this was one of the most difficult ceremonies he ever had to capture! Even with the candles, it was virtually pitch black. Luckily, there were a few spotlights on hand to help illuminate the bride and groom!

The next morning they got up before sunrise to take some photos before the tourists took over!
Such an incredible location! There’s just something magical about planning your own historic day among historic and ancient ruins.

From there, they headed down to the Wadi Rum Desert where Tyler booked an overnight excursion with a local guide to explore the unique + magical expanse!
