With all the new health guidelines coming out in response to COVID-19, it’s safe to say things are lookin’ a bit different. Although change can be tough, we feel (especially with matters of the heart) it’s best to just roll with it! Embrace the change, and move forward with your special day. If having a socially distant wedding celebration is what feels right for you, then we say go for it!! This sweet, summery wedding inspiration joyfully demonstrates that you can have a socially distant event that’s oh-so memorable!
Summer lovin’ vibes over here playfully dreamed up by Barefoot Floral and Carlie Statsky, encouraging couples to be bold + create an extra unique day that represents who you truly are as a couple…all while remaining safely 6 feet apart!
Here are 4 (gorgeously) easy steps to planning a socially distant wedding:
1. Refine Your Guest List
It’s difficult to successfully social distance with too many people; so the key to making this work is starting with a realistic guest count. And, given that international + domestic travel could be limited for some time, your guest list may be reduced organically to fall within your venue’s max capacity. Either way, you’ll want to decide who the VIPs are, and be thoughtful about your higher-risked guests.
The sweet summer details start here with this whimsical wedding reception menu.
Barefoot Floral clearly went big + beautiful with florals. The huge, summery peonies and soft color palette make for a very lovely setup. The pops of yellow in the bridal bouquet warm us up inside.

2. Wear Masks!
It’s a given, really. With more + more states across the US requiring face masks be worn in public spaces, it’s a given that masks will be present at your socially distant wedding. It’s the advice of public health officials, so why not add this to your dress code or even provide them to your guests?! So many talented artists have been working hard to create beautiful + safe face masks fit for a wedding fete (hello, hand-dyed silk!!)…so it may be more of a chic accessory than you even think!
It’s a summer lace dream dress designed by Spell! What is it about a long, lace sleeve that leaves us breathless?! We love the delicate dress paired with that fun, folky brimmed hat.

3. Make Space With Your Floor Plan
According to some social distance guidelines, reception tables are required to be set at least six-feet apart, with no more than 6 guests seated together. To ensure this spacing is met, couples + planners are having fun toying with floor plans and seating layouts. Lean into the creativity + make space with your ceremony + reception seating! Get a ‘lil crazy and stretch festivities across multiple spaces in one venue! What used to be a wedding hosted in a venue hall can now progress from space-to-space, and keep the day dynamic.

Perfect COVID-19 Wedding Favor
YES to dip-dyed, gauze face masks in butter yellow. We can’t think of a more perfect wedding favor than that!
4. Smart, Simplified Catering
When thinking of socially distant wedding food, it’s important to think about smart, simplified offerings that are catered to the individual guests. The days of sharing serving utensils at the wedding reception are gone (for now). Instead, caterers can serve a plated meal, that includes an appetizer; or coursed out meals for a fun tasting menu. For couples who want food stations, fear not! You can have portions already plated or have a server dish out portions to your guests. Still so many options, while keeping things safe!
Chic Event Rentals provided all these sweet tabletop details, that pair beautifully with this socially distant summer bash.
