One of life’s truths is that if Alexis of The Shift Creative is planning a party, it’s going to be uh-mazing. EVEN IF she plans it in just four days. For her daughter’s birthday, she whipped together a boho beach theme party with not a cocktail umbrella or plastic palm tree in sight. No, this neutral beach scene is a one-way ticket to Tulum and we’re packing our bags!
Given the current climate we find ourselves as a nation, celebrating is really hard. My daughter Sophia was turning 7 and while she can grasp some concepts but not the gravity of the situation, she deserves to be a kid celebrating another year of her life! In four days, I rounded up an intimate list of vendors to pull off her beach-inspired birthday! Naturally, when my daughter said “beach theme,” I heard Tulum!
Hello Blue Photo was one of the friend-ors who hopped on board to photograph the sweet day!
Take Us to Tulum
Every good party begins with an entrance! Michelle Rogers Styling styled an entry point with a huge acrylic box filled with palm leaves, accompanied by driftwood, and other wooden elements to tie in the whole Tulum feel!
Alexis hung a few drop cloths and Megan of Love Stuck Blooms created floral arrangements to frame the sides!
From the word go, Alexis started by buying starfish, shells, and beach-inspired garland.
A mix of fresh and dried florals in neutral colors dotted all the displays and tables.
Boho Beach Theme Birthday Table
Sand dollar place settings! So cute!

All these super fun signs?! Malisa of Creative Amme is the genius behind them!
Beach-Vibes Birthday Girl
Sweet Sophia! You know she’s growing up with some seriously great taste — we also featured her mermaid-themed birthday party last year!
Tulum-Inspired Cake + Desserts
Amriels Cakes jumped on theme when Alexis shared her vision for Tulum-inspired desserts. She handmade the cutest “rattan” beach chair, umbrella, and towel that sat perfectly on top of a wave cake! Sandcastle cookies and shell cupcakes were the final addition which Michelle then styled to with perfection.
SO, SO cute!! Happy birthday, Sophia!
