A Socially Distanced Bridal Editorial Featuring Cool, Modern Wedding Dresses by Lisa Lyons: Unconventional & Bohemian, with Macramé, Loose Hangs, Woven Baskets & Rustic Furniture

Ideas

We have some very beautiful and inspiring wedding and bridal editorials coming up over the next few weeks, this is the first of many.

These images were captured by photographer Jamie Dunn Photography who worked with a team of great wedding suppliers earlier on in the pandemic lockdown to create a socially distanced editorial. I’ll let Jamie himself explain how these images, which capture a real sense of the free spirited, modern and bohemian bride, came to be

“The inspiration was initially to explore a new outdoor riverside venue, Crossland Riverside , which recently opened for weddings and celebrations. Crossland is managed exclusively by event planner, Big Green Space, (event and is a secluded, treelined oasis just on the outskirts of Bedford. It’s the ideal location for a country wedding, festival style wedding or a couple seeking tie the knot surrounded by nature.”

“The riverside venue led us to a riparian bohemian theme; reeds, loose hangs, macramé, weaved baskets, rustic furniture, tassels and muted pinks with occasional colour pop and personality, as we wanted to capture an unconventional vibe.”

Beautiful model Bibi wore effortlessly cool gowns by Lisa Lyons.

“There’s a pleasing Bohemian consistency running through all the different elements with beautiful macrame hangings, weave baskets, a Tipi, and hand-crafted tassels adorning the cake. The cake also features magical ‘floating’, wafer flowers which were hand painted and a rattan-effect bottom tier.”

Lisa Lyons designed a gown made just for Bibi with tassels framing her back-line to complete the look. The floral decor was designed and styled by Joules from Willow & Thyme who utilised a mix of dried, potted and fresh blooms as well as the reed cuttings she foraged from the river. The photography was inspired by the direct sunlight light through the trees and the movement of the wind through the reeds.”

“Of course, there were challenges bringing the shoot together during the COVID-19 pandemic. Social distancing was extremely hard to maintain but luckily, we were in an outside venue and the set-up was carefully planned to ensure minimal close contact!”

“Even so, hand washing facilities were bought in and a PPE station was installed. After online consultations, our make up artist and hair stylist designed a striking look to enhance the boho vibe and complement our model’s natural style.”

“Make up was then applied by Bibi herself, under the guidance of Melissa our makeup artist (fully kitted out in PPE) who talked her through the techniques to get the right application.”
