Sometimes, a wedding just looks effortless. And while we know there is a LOT going on behind the scenes, you have admire the feeling of simplicity. A simple forest wedding, where every detail is just so as the sweet breeze hits your face and the leaves rustle underfoot — it’s really all you need. Bailey + Caitlin planned their wedding on a private property in Queensland that focused on the natural elements, and it was the addition of uniquely perfect details that had us hooked. Here’s the story:
Caitlin and I have been together since our final year of school, however, we have known each other our entire lives. We went to the same school, attended the same church, and our parents even work together. We never really talked until grade 12 when Caitlin asked me on a coffee date via DM. There was no overall theme for the day. We just wanted to have a day that authentically represented us as people, and share that with our friends and family. There weren’t a lot of decorations other than some old oil paintings and candles. We wanted to make it more about the flowers so that kind of shaped the vibe.
Let’s head into the forest with photos from Ben Sowry Photo!
Sweet Polka Dot Bridesmaids
The polka dot bridesmaids dresses by Shona Joy very fun + unexpected detail to an otherwise vintage-boho theme!
As far as décor goes, the focus was a simple mix of the natural atmosphere and flowers. The muted tones and mix of textures that Yukari Botanicals designed made the florals sing!
Bride + Groom Style
Caitlin is a private art school teacher and a stylist at Sphere Collective, a bridal boutique in Australia, where she decided on a gorgeous tiered gown by Chosen by One Day. Meanwhile, Bailey (who also writes + records music under the name LUUNG) wore a cool windowpane suit by Scotch and Soda.
Oil Painting Signage + The Floral Hoop Backdrop
What a RAD idea for a wedding sign! Lauren Horton painted the details over an old oil painting — this would be a great keepsake to hang in the home afterward!
Doesn’t this almost look like another portal into an über whimsical world?! The floral hoop backdrop was the perfect something to bring a romantic touch to the ceremony.
Sweet + Simple Forest Wedding Ceremony
Caitlin: My favorite moment is difficult to pick. Our day just went so seamlessly and really was the best day ever! When we exchanged our personal vows, it just felt very sacred, like there was no one else there. Just an intimate promise between the two of us. Our vows are groundings for our marriage and something I will always have in the back of my mind to uphold and love Bay well.
Bailey: One part that stands out to me was driving to the ceremony in the pouring rain and then getting out of the car to the sun shining down as if nothing had happened. Apparently, it was chaos on the property whilst it was raining, but to me, it just felt like the best-case scenario.
Guests rained down dried petal confetti from Everland Favours on the newlyweds as they made their way down the aisle!
Just Married
The Charming Reception
Don’t you just love a good cake trio? Cornerstore Co made it happen!
The perfect dramatic drip!
Such a beautiful day for these two! Congrats from all of at GWS!
