Today’s bride literally made us laugh out loud with her wedding planning advice: Picture your Plan F, all-bets-are-off, this-is-pretty-much-a-disaster wedding… But you know what? She’s not wrong! Nakita + Tristan’s backyard micro wedding was planned by removing all the distractions and focusing on what really mattered, even if everything else went south:

About the wedding rings..it’s a sweet and funny story!
We wanted to get tattoos instead of wedding rings and decided to get matching finger tattoos. I have the moon and Tristan has the sun. We think that it represents us because the moon and sun are opposites. But apparently, we aren’t “opposite” enough for one of us to stop and make sure we were getting the tattoo on the correct hand. We got our wedding ring tattoos on the wrong hand!!

The Sweet Backyard Micro Wedding Ceremony
Nakita’s maid of honor wrote and sang a song accompanied by the best man as she walked down the aisle! How beautiful is that?
The ceremony was so overwhelming but so perfect. The whole day just flew by so quickly and before I knew it, I was standing next to my parents about to walk down the aisle!! I hadn’t even seen the venue all set up yet. And we were late. I panicked for a minute. But then I was walking down the aisle and every detail was so perfect. The backyard looked even better than I had imagined and our bridal party looks came together so perfectly. I got to see the faces of so many loved ones smiling at me. And I got to see Tristan, of course.
The very best part was his vows. He is not usually good with articulating his feelings so it really took me by surprise that his vows were so beautiful and personal. And so funny!! That meant so much to me and it was such a beautiful moment.
OMG is this not the best photo ever?! And, fun fact, Tristan built the pink neon heart for the ceremony!

Stop trying to picture your dream wedding and start trying to picture your Plan F, all-bets-are-off, this-is-pretty-much-a-disaster wedding. If that were to happen, what elements would still make that day amazing even though it wasn’t exactly what you had in mind? Which parts are most important to you and your partner? Center your day around those elements.
The fact is that things will not always go according to plan and it is better to be flexible than to be stressed out and unhappy. It’s better to have a smaller, more low-key wedding where you have time to actually enjoy the day than to have a huge event where you don’t even have time to say hi to all the people you invited! When it is actually your wedding day, you will find that your “dream wedding” is the one where you have the most time to actually enjoy the day with your new spouse.
