Juxtaposition. It’s a big, big word that sums up everything that we love about this industrial micro wedding inspiration. Aside from the muted rainbow ribbon chandelier (which we will, of course, get to later), we’re particularly smitten with the color choices here tied to the earthy, rough palette from Hutton Brickyards.

Planning and designers from A La Carte Events brought vibrancy to an otherwise muted brickyard venue, creating a slightly bohemian vibe while also keeping things romantic and modern. But the real shining star of this industrial micro wedding inspiration comes from above. Not quite a rainbow in the sky, but just as mesmerizing is this ribbon installation from Michelle Moore Designs. We couldn’t resist learning a bit more about how she used things like onion peels + botanicals to create the ombre ribbon chandelier (scroll on, friends)!

Muted Rainbow Ribbon Chandelier

To achieve a table-runner this unique, you’d need to hand-dye it using a combination of madder root and cutch, then bundle it with onion skins and steam it to create that dynamic texture! So cool.

A talented crafter after our own hearts Michelle Moore Designs shares her process: The large hanging fabric installation is made using both cotton and lyocell fabric. Each ribbon is created by hand tearing the material into about a 2 inch wide strips. Then it’s dyed by hand to create variations in each one…all with a combination of natural dyes, and low impact textile dye. Some of the ribbons are tied to create a pattern on them. Some of the ribbons I pounded flowers into to create texture. and some were dip-dyed in multiple colors. My goal was to make sure I kept the color palette in mind, while still adding texture to the strips that would make each one unique. I wanted to keep it playful, by not having too much consistency in the final piece.
