Calling all colorful wedding flower lovers! Jemma + Callum’s Covid-19 wedding day is going to show you how to flawlessly incorporate bold red and pink hues in a modern way. With the help of Event Planner, Kate Redgen, they created a contemporary setup at The Calile Hotel. The day featured elegant black bridesmaids dresses, geometric ceremony structures and some seriously large and lush peonies, dahlias and phalaenopsis orchids. All this glam doesn’t mean that J + C sacrificed on the personal details though. They share:
We focused on elements that spoke to our personalities, interests, or just us as a couple. Jemma loves flowers, so the date had to fit in with when her favourite flowers were in season. Our dogs are our babies, so they had to be there. Favours were Noosa Chocolate Factory freeze-dried strawberries, which Callum would surprise Jemma with when he would go to the city for work. We did anything we could to inject elements of fun – like our arch-shaped cake and Jemma wearing a dog mask for the first look.
Tessa Shannon nailed the glam photos from this day. Let’s take a look!
Inspiration For Colorful Wedding Flowers
How fluffy and magnificent are these blooms?!
Sleek Black Bridesmaids Dresses
A great way to make sure your colorful wedding flowers pop? Set them against crisp black bridesmaids dresses to play up the drama!
J and her girls were glowing thanks to Sarah Neill hair and Ash Camille makeup!
Getting to dance with everyone. After the year we had, it felt like the ultimate sigh of relief to party with our friends and family. My two bridesmaids live in another state and we were separated all year thanks to COVID. Due to the restrictions where we live, both girls had to quarantine in a hotel for 14 days before they were able to attend. It was the ultimate act of love that we will never forget and made our day extra special.
Modern Wedding Decor Inspiration
We’re loving the clean and smooth lines of the furniture rentals from Avideas Event Hire & Design. Modern brides are embracing all things geometric like this round grid-like ceremony structure.
The real shining star of this day is the flowers by Florals and Co. Such bold color stories and we’re loving it!
Processional: Everywhere – Fleetwood Mac
Recessional: Loving is Easy – Rex Orange County
First Dance: Ocean Eyes – Billie Eilish
J + C exchanged vows in a sweet ceremony that Erin Woodhall officiated.
Dogs Are A Wedding Day Must-Have
We love that J + C included their pups in the day! See more creative ways to include your dog in your wedding day here!
We booked our wedding in 2019 (pre-pandemic days), then anxiously waited as the time passed and everything changed so rapidly. We talked through so many “what if” options and shed a lot of tears, however we were extremely fortunate that our original date fell during a time when things were going well where we live, and there we no active cases in the community at the time and very few restrictions. My only advice for couples planning now is to take your time, if you don’t have to rush to make a decision, give yourselves the time to process and make sure you’re truly happy with whatever you decide. Whether it’s an intimate affair or you’re waiting to throw a huge party, do what makes the two of you happy.
Elegant Gown Meets Colorful Wedding Flowers
At the beginning, I tried on a lot of dresses, including one impulse purchase at a sample sale where I had instant dress regret. I ended up finding my dress at a last-minute appointment at Luv Bridal on the Gold Coast with my best friend and mum. I knew as soon as I put it on that it was the one. It fit the style of the day, simple with a bit of drama. The dress is Maddox by Madi Lane.
Flawless! Congratulations Jemma + Callum! We know your day will inspire all the colorful flower lovers out there. All the best from the GWS Team!
