Ideas

We’re at Love My Dress Wedding Directory favourite, Dewsall Court in Herefordshire, for today’s late summer wedding, full of rich, autumnal tones and personal touches.

Please welcome supply chain manager Beth and market insights manager Craig, who chose 25 September 2021 for their Dewsall Court wedding.

Beth’s shoes were the pearl-heeled ‘Martina’ by Freya Rose London.

Perfect for a weekend escape with their closest friends and family, Dewsall’s lush gardens and outdoor areas informed the day’s décor with its autumnal and late summer colours and textures.

Dewsall Court

“We chose Dewsall Court as it’s a beautiful house where we could spend a weekend with our nearest and dearest whilst getting married.”

“We wanted to incorporate lots of autumnal colours as we got married in the transition from summer to Autumn.”

“We also had little touches that nodded to places we’d been, like the canapés we chose and the gin bottles to denote the table names.”

The bride’s ethereal, delicate gown with its floaty sleeves was chosen on ASOS, with alterations by Bride & Alter.

“Bride & Alter were really helpful and friendly, and made everything very easy. I definitely recommend them.”

“I tried on some expensive dresses from wedding boutiques and a few options from ASOS. The ASOS one was the one I felt most comfortable and myself in.”

The bride wore her hair back in a low, elegant chignon and her make-up was fresh and natural. Both were done by Rebel Rock in Hereford.

The gorgeous team over at Rewritten created the beautiful jewel tone gowns worn by the bridesmaids.

The bride and her bridesmaids each carried a wild, seasonal bouquet created by Luna In The Wild.

“We asked for autumnal colours and seasonal blooms. We left it to Maria to work her magic, which she did!”

Craig’s dapper suit was from Cad & The Dandy on Savile Row, and he wore it with accessories from Trendhim.

The wedding ceremony was held outside in the open-sided tent, led by a registrar from Herefordshire County Council. As Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Songbird’ played, Beth walked down the aisle with her father Martin to meet Craig.

Craig: “My favourite memory is seeing Beth for the first time as she began to walk down the aisle. She looked incredible and so happy.”

The couple chose two readings; ‘Love is Awful’ from ‘Fleabag’, and ‘Marriage Advice’ by the Obamas.

Sassi Holford

“We chose them because they made us smile and reflected how we felt about marriage. ‘Love is Awful’ is actually about hope and sharing love.”

“The Obama’s marriage advice is all about winning together and being a team. That reflects our relationship.”

The couple’s wedding bands were lab-grown diamonds from Queensmith.

The couple’s day was captured in a relaxed, natural and joyous manner by Danielle of D&J Photography.

“She was great – very calming and thorough, really clear in what she wanted from us and how she would capture the day.”

“The photos are amazing and have added to our memories. We would recommend her wholeheartedly!”

Dewsall Court’s full-blown gardens made the perfect backdrop for wedding photographs and post-ceremony chatting before the whole party moved into the barn for the wedding breakfast.

Craig and Beth crossed paths at Cardiff University where they were both studying Chemistry.

“We got together after we had both finished uni and I was moving to London where Craig lived.”

“We got engaged in the Netherlands as we were living there at the time. It had been coming and Craig bought a ring when he was home for Christmas.”

“We were engaged for nearly two years before we got married.”

“We were incredibly lucky that the pandemic didn’t overly influence our day. We were looking at venues in the first summer of Covid, when things were somewhat relaxed.”

“As we lived abroad, we came home for the first time since everything kicked off and saw fifteen wedding venues while seeing our family and friends too.”

“Our date didn’t have to move and we trusted people to be careful. On the day, we had a couple of people drop out due to Covid symptoms and some guests weren’t able to travel from Europe.”

“But, by and large, our day was exactly how we wanted.”

“Luna In The Wild decorated the beams in the barn and we hung photos of us with all of our friends and family along the walls.”

“We gave everyone a little Tony’s Chocolonely chocolate, as it’s what all of our friends always bought when they visited us in the Netherlands.”

The pure white, tiered cake was made by the bride’s aunt Anne.

“My favourite part were the speeches and espresso martinis after dinner.”

The evening music came from band Velvet Soul, after a first dance to Feel The Need In Me’ by the Detroit Emeralds.

“It’s a great song and not too fast. One of the lines is ‘I need your love’, which is true for both of us.”

Words of Wedded Wisdom

“Make the day what you want it to be. If you want more time for the party in the evening, do it. If you want vegetarian food, do it.”

“The most important thing is that you are happy – not your family, or friends, or anyone else. And stay friends with your partner as you go through it all!”

Absolutely gorgeous!
