Stacey & Mark’s Winter Wedding at Guardswell Farm in Scotland

Ideas

This is the wedding of midwife Stacey and European golf sales manager Mark, who chose Guardswell Farm near Kinnaird, Inchture, Scotland for their cosy and magical winter wedding on 11 December 2021.

Having fallen in love with the combination of traditional and modern features at the barn, as well as its beautiful setting in the Scottish hills, the couple kept their look minimal and classic with an elegant colour palette of creams and greens. The bride wore a beautiful gown by David Fielden, which she discovered at the wonderful Carina Baverstock Couture.

The celebration was captured by Emma Lawson Photography in her signature relaxed, light-infused style. Enjoy!

The Venue

We chose the beautiful Guardswell Farm as it reminded me of my Somerset roots whilst being set in the beautiful hills of the Scottish countryside. The venue was the perfect balance of classic features with a modern look. It was important to be able to stay on site with our nearest and dearest, which Guardswell could facilitate.

When we viewed the venue for the first time, it gave a really welcoming feel and we could envision getting married there from the moment we arrived. We never imagined that we would have a winter wedding. But, when we visited the venue during the winter, we realised just how magical and cosy it was and it gave us all the feels for a winter wedding.

The Dress

My gown was the David Fielden ‘Maleficent’ from Carina Baverstock Couture.

I couldn’t have wished for a better experience when choosing my wedding dress. Carina is a credit to the bridal industry and I feel so lucky to have had her guidance, knowledge and expertise to guide me to finding the dreamiest dress.

Carina advised on many aspects which had not been touched on in other bridal shops, so I had so much trust and confidence in her to deliver – which she totally did.

I would recommend all future brides take a visit to the boutique – I promise you won’t regret booking an appointment with the wonderful Carina Baverstock Couture team.

The detail of the lace was unreal and I really liked the idea of having sleeves so the dress ticked all of the boxes.

The dress felt so effortless to wear and I loved how it skimmed over my body and felt so weightless on.

Bridal Beauty, Shoes & Accessories

Shauni Sidowra Hairdressing did my hair and my make-up was by Laura Elizabeth Wardlock. My hair accessories were from Gillian Million.

My perfume was Miss Dior. I wanted a new scent to wear on my wedding day so that every time I wore it afterwards, the scent would always remind me of the day.

I had a cathedral veil, also purchased from Carina Baverstock Couture, and my shoes were ‘Kiera’ from The Perfect Bridal Company.

Bridal Party

The bridesmaids’ gowns were from H&M and they wore Linzi shoes. The flowergirls wore Monsoon dresses.

The Groom

We met on Tinder in 2014, became engaged in October 2019 at Beaverbrook, Surrey and got married a little over two years later, on 11 December 2021.

Mark’s kilt was from Slater Menswear.

Photography

From the moment we discovered our photographer, Emma Lawson, we kept on being drawn back to her. Her photos are unreal and they really tell a story.

We had a pre-wedding shoot and she instantly made us feel comfortable; she doesn’t make you awkwardly pose and she captures the magic.

On the morning of the wedding when she arrived with her second shooter Esme, I felt so relaxed to hear her voice and trusted her 100% to do her thing.

Our film was by Adam Wing Films.

Evening & Dancing

We had music from Tartan Entertainment Group and our saxophonist was Gav On Sax. and our first dance song was ‘A Whole New World’ by Zayn Malik and Zhavia Ward.

We chose this song as the words were meaningful and we were about to embark on a whole new venture together as a married couple.

Words of Wedded Wisdom

Please don’t worry about the weather. We decided to get married in Scotland in December and I promise you that whatever the weather is doing on the day, it will not matter.

Prepare for the worst weather scenario and then it really won’t affect your day in any way.

I loved Love My Dress’s Instagram posts throughout the planning stages. It was lovely to see such a variety of weddings and styles, and was helpful for coming up with ideas that we could adapt for our day.
