Over the past month we’ve taken one for the team by bronzing our way through a number of self tanners, with the hopes of finding you the best fake tans for your wedding.
The Best Fake Tans to Guarantee a Wedding Day Glow
Your big day is all about your wedding glow. We’re not talking about your ‘just married’ glow, we’re talking about that sun-kissed, Sofia Richie glow. If you’ve decided to fake tan for your big day, it’s probably best that you plan far in advance. We’d also recommend you trial it at least five months before to make sure you have no reactions to close to the big day. This way, you’ll be confident in the product and the application process.
For those of us unable to jet off for some winter sun, the age-old fake it ’til you make it approach can be just affective when it comes to guaranteeing a tan for your wedding day. We’ve tried and tested some of the industry’s best fake tans so that you can walk down the aisle streak free.
The Best Fake Tans for a Gradual Tan
Gradual Illuminating Lotion, £25
Applied like a normal moisturiser, this Tan-Luxe gradual lotion is perfect for those wanting a natural, radiant glow. It’s buildable, and gets bonus points because it can also be used on the face. Try mixing with the Tan-Luxe tanning drops, (£44) to create an even deeper tan.
Summer Revived Lotion, £4.25
One of the more affordable options that works just as well. The scent is divine so we have no problem with putting it on daily.
Perfect Legs Gradual Tan, £38
This extremely moisturising and hydrating formula gives even the driest legs a smooth and streak-free tan, adding subtle colour and sheen, while hydrating and firming the skin. We absolutely adore this product, it makes our legs look sculpted and sheeny.
Tan tip: Apply your fake tan around two days before your big day to avoid colour transfer.
The Best Fake Tans for Instant Self-Tanning
Bondi Sands Technocolor 1 Hour Express Foam, £19.99

There are four colour options to choose from, all of which cater to a specific skin tone. The results are natural and speedy, think your skin just 100% better.
Alpha Beta Glow Pads, £46
These towelettes are infused with glycolic and lactic acid which reduce wrinkles and speed up cell renewal. We recommend using the pads twice in the week before your big day, and the results will be flawless.
Luxe Body Serum, £28
We are blown away by this skincare infused body serum. The formula contains Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 to hydrate, firm, smooth, soothe, reduce redness and even skin tone. The results leave the skin feeling sun-kissed with no streaks in sight; this is the perfect product to be included in your wedding prep.
The Best Fake Tans for the Face
Hydrating Facial Skin Care, £93.50
One of Wedding Ideas favourites, this moisturising formula works to bronze the face over time, with results showing in as little as two hours; We adore how moisturised and radiant our skin looks after using it.
Tea to Tan Face and Body, £59
This cult product is designed for the face and body, and works beautifully under makeup. The formula contains revitalising tea tree extracts- so your skin will thank you.
Glam Glow, £40
Pump life back into your lacklustre complexion over the space of a few days with this face and body tanner. This Omorovicza tanner packs a punch that extends past your sun-kissed glow. Plus, it’s formulated with anti-ageing antioxidants and natural radiance-boosters. We’re sold on this bottled sunshine.
The Best Tan Boosters
Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster, £19.32
For bespoke bronzing, this concentrated self-tanner is designed to be combined with your usual moisturiser. The result is a gradual and flawless tan. Nonetheless, we recommend you trial it long in advance of your wedding to find what works for you. We recommend between four and six drops depending on the colour you want to achieve.
Tan tip: Don’t go near the fake tan until you’ve exfoliated. Pay extra attention to your elbows and feet by moisturising them before you apply your tan.
The Best Fake Tan Mitts and Removers
Soft Velvet Tanning Mitt, £12
Finally, you are only so good as your tools when it comes to tanning so splurge on the right mitt. We love the Coco & Eve mitt as it is robust, velvety and looks pretty too.
Tan Remover Mitt, £6
We like to keep it real with you guys, and to be honest we wouldn’t recommend any of the fake tan removers that we trialed. The best fake tan remover was found when we ran a bath with oils and then used the above mitt in circular motions across our body.
