Yasmin and Roger who both work in PR tied the knot on 18th June at the The Wedding Barn at Old Hall in Suffolk.
This gorgeous wedding, captured lovingly by wonderfully talented photographer Lilly Wilson, who the couple discovered through the Love My Dress Wedding Directory.
Yasmin wore a gown by Marquise Bridal which she discovered at The Ivory Room Bridal in Lincolnshire. She paired this with a modern pair of white strappy heels and simple, long, single tier veil.
I hope you enjoy this beautiful day as much as we do.
The Venue
I grew up in Essex and we wanted somewhere close to my parents and that was easy enough for our friends (who are mainly based in London) to travel to.
We didn’t want a traditional wedding and wanted to be able to choose all of our suppliers and specific food! So, when we saw The Wedding Barn at Old Hall, a beautiful grade II listed granary store which was a recently launched dry hire wedding venue, we knew we wanted to do the wedding there.
Because of the stonewalls in the building, it also didn’t require much dressing so we could keep the styling fairly minimal.

How They Met
We met at work in London almost a decade ago. We didn’t really cross paths until we both happened to be on the same flight to a music festival a couple of years in. After that, we realised we had a lot in common and started dating a few months after the festival.
When we had been together for a few years, we decided to set off on an adventure and move to Australia for “a year”. Over five years later, we’re still here.
Roger proposed when we were on a road trip from Sydney to Byron Bay. At our first stop, we stayed at a tiny house in the countryside and he proposed after dinner by the campfire.
We didn’t have any phone signal so were able to enjoy the night with just the both of us knowing, before my sister and her husband met up with us the following day for a day in the Hunter Valley wine region. It was lovely to be able to tell them face-to-face before calling family that evening. We were engaged for two years before we got married.
On our wedding day, Roger wore a suit by P Johnson and a Liberty London tie.
The Reception
Anthology Vintage Hire provided long tables and all of our furniture – barrels as bar tables with stools, milk churns, a trunk, a vintage sofa area.
My dad does watercolour painting in his spare time so we named the tables after cities we have visited together and my dad produced paintings for each city. Prints of the paintings were displayed on the tables and seating plan.
Our caterer was Crown Catering Cambridge. We both love Italy (Roger spent his Summers there as a child) so we wanted Italian shared platters for the meal.
If I had to pick a favourite moment, it would be our speeches. I loved hearing from my dad, Roger and the best men. And getting a chance to say my thank yous and let Roger know what he meant to me (after giving him a light roasting!)
Our floral designers were C Taylor’s Floristry. We created a focal point with two hanging hoops over the tables, which were transformed with green foliage and flowers.
We had two milk churns with flowers in to frame the top of our aisle for our ceremony. After the ceremony, we moved them to the entrance of the building. On the tables, we had simple, relaxed arrangements with lots of small vases with a few flowers in each. These were dotted along the tables with candles in the same colours. The flowers were in rustic, peachy, neutral tones to go with the rest of the wedding.
Hiring a Wedding Planner
Our planner was Louisa May Weddings. Louisa was AMAZING. She helped us create the perfect wedding – no task was too big or too small. She helped coordinate all of our suppliers and offered invaluable advice in the lead up to the wedding to help us feel calm.
On the day, she ran it like a pro and we didn’t have to worry about a thing. The run sheet she created in advance was 10/10. The following morning, she left the venue in a perfect state and cleared away everything. And on top of all that, she was just lovely to work with.
The couple planned a relaxed and stylish Italian inspired wedding with great food and dance. They chose a natural palette of rust, nude and muted pinks to complement the tones of the building.

Evening & Dancing
We hired a DJ, Dan, from the Wedding Smashers. Our first dance as to Loud Places, by Jamie XX. We’ve seen him play it live a few times, it’s ‘our song’ and we always find each other on the dance floor when it plays.
Words of Wedded Wisdom
The most important thing is getting married. Do what suits you as a couple and don’t worry about the small details – no one will remember the colour of your napkins!
We’d not have worried too much about the finer details in the lead up.
Doing a dry hire wedding definitely ended up costing more than we had initially budgeted.
Also, get a wedding planner if you can afford it. It’s the best money we ever spent!
