A Rustic + Romantic Wedding In Spain Inspired By Spanish Village Festivals

Planning

Sonia + Aarón’s love story is a life-long one. These two newlyweds grew up in neighboring villages in Valencia, Spain and have known each other since they were little kids!

Both Sonia + Aarón have so many happy memories of time with friends and family at traditional Spanish village festivals, so when the moment came to start planning their wedding, they knew they wanted to capture the sounds and colors of those classically Valencian festivities.

The couple collaborated with Eventos Clandestine to bring their vision to life. Together they filled rustic and charming venue La Prensa de la Valldigna with bold shades of red, bountiful flowers and produce, and an authentic and celebratory town square festival feel. And details like a totally dreamy tapas spread, a vermouth bar, and a live brass band rounded out the iconically Spanish experience.

Let’s take a look at the gorgeous photos that Kristel Aragon captured of Sonia + Aarón’s sunny Spanish wedding day!

Venaya Moments created the wedding’s absolutely charming hand-drawn paper goods. We are obsessed with the quaint and colorful tone they set for the day!

The Ceremony

“They wanted a space that perfectly represented the locations of a small inland village, with its decaying houses, the typical village square, and surrounded by mountains and orange groves,” says planner Lorena of Eventos Clandestine. “The perfect venue for their guests was  La Prensa de la Valldigna.”

Floral designers from De Bohemia filled the ceremony space with hay bales and tons of long-stem carnations in different shades of deep red for a rustic yet romantic and magical vibe.

Very into this rich red and brown ombre backdrop!!

The day’s design vision included so many inviting still-life tableaus that created a village festival atmosphere with baskets of vibrant produce + flowers. And those woven hand fans were a clever handcrafted guest gift to keep everybody cool throughout the outdoor celebration.

“A market stall with fresh water in pitchers, fresh beer from a typical Spanish porrón, and straw hats were details we wanted to include to achieve a journey back in time, reminiscent of the life of our grandparents in the village,” says the couple.

We are drooling over the absolutely delicious spread of Spanish flavors that Jucais Catering created!!

A super fun and eco-conscious fact about Sonia + Aarón’s wedding? Guests got to take home all of the produce and food worked into the decor at the end of the night. Nothing was wasted or thrown away.

There are tons of editable templates with hand-drawn vibes on Etsy if you want to recreate the feel of Sonia + Aarón’s menus and paper goods.
