This stunningly pink coastal California wedding is your sign to go flirt with that gorgeous barista you’ve got a crush on cause that’s how newlyweds Cierra + Roman met!!
“I was out shopping with a girlfriend when I saw him through the window and immediately ran in to order a latte,” Cierra says. “I proceeded to flirt, and came back frequently that summer as a ‘returning customer’ even though the shop was quite out of the way from where I lived.”
A rom-com-worthy love story like this one calls for a totally unforgettable wedding, and—with the help of Wild Heart Events—that’s exactly what Cierra + Roman created at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm in Santa Barbara.
The day’s design vision sprang from French designer label Jacquemus and their Spring 2020 runway show which featured a hot pink runway cutting through lavender fields, so get ready for lots of fabulous pink accents worked in among the venue’s desert landscape…and maybe even a bold, hot pink statement aisle. 💕
We’ve been so excited share this vibrant + visionary wedding with you for a while, so—without further ado and thanks to the incredible pictures that photographer Sophie Berard snapped—here is Cierra + Roman colorful, coastal day!!
Bride Cierra had big plans for these iconic pink platform heels from Versace, saving them for her reception look outfit change.
This crew is a masterclass in achieving a perfectly mismatched bridal party look. “The girls all could wear any dress, long, short, silky, sheer, floral, patterned, off the shoulder, long sleeve, etc.! AS LONG as it was pink,” Cierra says. “I wanted the girls to feel comfortable and themselves, so they all had their own unique pink dress they picked out.”

“We both wrote our own vows,” the couple says. “We didn’t share any info with each other when writing them but they ended up being around the same length. Our vows really complimented each other, which felt super special since we hadn’t compared notes prior to reading them in front of everyone.”
Definitely explore our guide to writing your own vows if you like the idea of penning your own “I do’s” like Cierra + Roman did.
We spy Something New Media in the background there capturing this magical moment!
Perfect Portraits
“The suit was a significant moment for me,” Roman says of his custom double breasted look from Zegna. “Naturally we all have role models and heroes growing up that we’ve looked up to and tried to emulate, and mine just so happened to all wear double breasted suits. There is a certain regality in it, and I’ve always been drawn to it. So the suit being tailored to fit me was a special moment. As a pocket square I put my favorite color which is a salmon pink, and for shoes I wore my Tabi Boots. The entire suit had a significance because all it reflected me perfectly.”
We’ve got to mention that bride Cierra is the woman behind Boyish Beauty, a makeup brand known for its gender-inclusive approach to high-performance makeup that aims to enhance people’s natural beauty. We love that the elevated + organic vibe of her brand totally infused her wedding day beauty look by Makeup with Celeste!
“I went in with no vision other than dewy skin and to enhance my everyday makeup. I really wanted to keep my unibrow as it’s something that’s so a part of my identity.” says Cierra of her bridal beauty look. “I was teased growing up for having such thick eyebrows. I plucked them, waxed them, and pulled on them (as a preteen does growing up in the ultra thin brows 2000s era). Once I turned 20 I completely fell in love with them. I can’t imagine not having such prominent brows. I started developing Boyish Beauty around the time Roman and I got engaged. Our first products, of course, are a brow gel and brow pen. It felt surreal being able to use my own products on my wedding day.”
Cierra found this stunning satin off-the-shoulder gown by Katherine Tash at Loho Bride. “It just ticked all the boxes. I didn’t feel like I was wearing a wedding dress, I truly just felt like myself. It was timeless, chic, sexy, and effortless. I was beaming the first time I tried it on. I just knew.”
Also, how fab are those ankle-wrap pointed toe heels by Magda Butrym??
Loving the white rattan guest seating from Adore Folklore and the way it adds an eclectic garden party energy to the edgier pink elements.
When in doubt: custom pink checker board dance floor.
Jaime from Wild Heart Events remembers: “Table Method created neutral checkerboard linens which we emulated with color on the dance floor with a 3 color checker-board design.”
Tabletop rentals from Catalog Atelier like these perfectly pink corduroy napkins added so much character + texture to the reception tablescapes. And yes, that IS bubble wrap! “The pink, bubble-wrap runners were a last minute make-it-work moment when some of our custom linens did not arrive in time (hello Covid delays still happening).” Jamie says. “They ended up being the textural and funky moment we never knew we all needed!”
Our Musical Choices Processional: "Fade into You" by Mazzy Star + "All of The Lights (interlude)" by Kanye West
Recessional: "Can’t Believe The Way We Flow" by James Blake
First Dance: "One" by Johnny Cash
Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding 1. Cierra + her brother doing NSYNC choreography that was completely impromptu
2. The speeches from our family members.
3. Seeing everyone we hold dear in one place. From all walks of life, all together.
We LOVE the low pony that stylist Noel Sweeny created for Cierra! “My go to hair style is usually a slicked back bun, so I thought that having my hair back would feel very comfortable. I didn’t want to have a hair style that I don’t normally wear,” Cierra says. “My mom, made this stunning ribbon that was jeweled with pearls. We wrapped that around the hair tie and it ended up completing the look so well. It also was the best decision because dancing was super easy, which was very important to me.”
“Roman’s mom, Tamara made our entire cake.” says Cierra. “She is an extremely talented baker and took on the job of creating my dream cake. It was a layered cake with crumb coat of white frosting layered with real fresh flowers all over.”
Roman and his mom danced to “Con te partirò” by Andrea Bocelli, and you should explore our list of the top 70 mother son dance songs to play at your wedding if you haven’t found the right tune for your reception’s special parent dance moment.
