Bree + Mattie’s breathtaking elopement in the Swiss Alps has been filling us with wedding wanderlust, and we are SO excited to share it with you.
Based in Arizona, bride Bree + groom Mattie joined forces with the brilliant team of event designers + planners at Nicole Please Weddings to create their Swiss destination celebration. Every single detail came together very long distance. “Everything was planned remotely with Bree & Mattie, all thanks to Zoom,” says the planning team. “We’re based in Hong Kong, and the couple is from the USA so there was a chunk of time difference. Bree + Mattie were the loveliest couple and planned during late night calls while sipping their favorite wines.”
Over the course of a four-hour call, Bree, Mattie, and their planners narrowed down 168 location options in Switzerland one by one. Interlaken was a strong contender, but, as the planning team remembers: “the natural beauty of the Swiss alps absolutely gave them the wow factor.” The couple chose Riffelalp Resort 2222m near Zermatt as their elopement day home base, enchanted by the undeniable splendor of the surroundings.
So, with Likha Travel facilitating luxury travel for Bree, Mattie, and both sets of parents, the couple set off for Switzerland. There were beautiful earthy + blush tone florals, seriously SPECTACULAR alpine views, and tons of unbelievable photos of the day from Luna Marie Photography.
The Ceremony
Awina Eventstyling created the lush floral towers and arrangements for a breathtaking ceremony setup that featured the majesty of The Matterhorn as a backdrop.
A live ceremony band from Flexi Music provided music for the intimate occasion.
“When Mattie saw Bree for the first time in her wedding dress, Mattie was all teared up,” remembers the planning team, “and that moment was just so genuine and unforgettable.”
“Everyone – all guests and even all the vendors – went teary-eyed, and it was a touching ceremony with beautiful vows.”
All Aboard The Gornergrat Train!
“Zermatt is a village in Switzerland where no cars are allowed,” says the planning team. “You can only access it by local trains and local taxis. So logistic wise it was very challenging to get all the flowers up 2222m over sea, all the decor, stationery, the vendors such as make up artist, acoustic duo and officiant.”

Exploring Zermatt
It was a wedding weekend full of adventures for Bree, Mattie, and their folks! “The day before the elopement day, we arranged an Interlaken tour for the group,” says the planning team. “They visited the Giessbach Forest & Giessbach Waterfalls, visited Lake Brienz, had some drinks at Victoria Jungfrau Hotel, and strolled around Lauterbrunnen. The day after the elopement, the group took a scenic train ride and did a wine tasting in Lausanne.”
