A Dreamy Disco Cowboy Wedding in a Denver, Colorado Art Gallery

Planning

Like a romantic tale of the Old West, Conner + Audrey’s love story began during the summer they both spent working on a dude ranch in Wyoming. “A mutual love for the mountains, laughter, exploring, and porch beers at the local haunt Dornan’s grounded an immediate friendship,” the couple remembers, “which eventually evolved into a deeper, forever love.”

For these two, planning their wedding meant teaming up with the event designers + planners at Enchanted Designs to combine Western themes (a nod to their relationship’s beginnings in Wyoming as well as Conner’s family ties in Idaho) with a “laid back, party-oriented vibe.”

And thus, the Disco Cowboy vibe was born!

Conner + Audrey chose Denver, CO modern art hub Space Gallery as their venue. Disco balls glittered, colorful purple + orange flowers filled the unique space, the couple’s precious pup Norman made an appearance, and Emily Culbertson was there behind the camera capturing it all!

Floral designers at RLY RLY captured the playful + romantic spirit of Conner + Audrey’s day by marrying bright yellows and oranges with delicate pastel purples.

Audrey’s dress shopping plan was to find a versatile convertible high-low gown that felt like a unique take on bridal style and that could switch into a mini dress perfect for the reception.

I went to many traditional bridal stores and didn’t find anything matching my vision,” Audrey remembers. “Luckily, I put my twin sister and resident fashionista on the task, and within minutes she found an Alexia María dress on Instagram that was exactly what I was looking for (thanks Erin!). I plan on dying the mini purple and wearing it to future events.”

Conner’s wedding day look was inspired by custom embroidered suits that the members of Boygenius (a band she and Audrey both love) wore on tour. “I knew for the big day I wanted a suit that was custom to me and could serve as a fun piece to rewear later,” Conner says. “Sarie at Jukebox Mama knocked it out of the park- I shared my vision of an olive green suit with western wildflowers, trout, fly fishing, and Norman, and she created an embroidered bedazzled piece beyond my wildest dreams.”

The Reception

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Audrey: We loved the idea of a sit down, family style dinner as a way for friends to converse and meet in a structured but unstuffy way. Looking out during dinner and seeing the room buzzing with laughter and love filled my heart up!

Conner: We used the last hour of our reception for a silent disco: lights down, headphones turned up, wigs and party glasses on! I had so much fun building the three “stations” of music (oldies, house/dance music, and rap classics) with songs to keep the party going. It was a perfect, high-energy way to end the night.

One of the major benefits of holding your wedding in an art gallery? The space comes with tons of gorgeous paintings on the walls! Take a look at this Brooklyn Museum wedding and this sculpture museum wedding shoot for some more examples of stunning weddings surrounded by artwork.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

Family and friends are both extremely important to both of us and a central piece of our relationship. Thus, a friend’s reminder that this is likely the only time this many of our friends and family will be together in one place at one time was such sage advice. This helped take some focus and stress away from the swirl that a wedding weekend can be and remind us what truly mattered: our love and celebrating it with the people we love most!

Congratulations, Conner + Audrey! Your dazzling Disco Cowboy wedding was full of color + charm. GWS wishes you all the very best!
