Black Tie on the Beach: A Fun + Formal Destination Wedding in Cabo

Planning

Elizabeth + Matthew have a love story that sounds like the plot of your favorite Nora Ephron movie. They both worked for the same talent agency—Matthew for the NYC office and Elizabeth for the LA office. After a few years of working together from opposite sides of the country, Elizabeth got a new job that was based…you guessed it…in New York. The pair of former coworkers got drinks to catch up and the rest is history.

Their b+w modern destination wedding in Cabo was a beautiful black tie dream, and we can’t wait to show it to you.

The goal was to create a day that felt formal yet fun. “Our color palette was Black & White,” says the couple of the design vision that planner Lola Del Campo helped them bring to life. “In contrast with the ocean and the greenery around the venue it looked amazing.”

What made them want to jet off to sunny Mexico for their big day? “We love Cabo, and it is one of our favorite places to visit. Lizzie grew up going to Cabo her entire life and was excited to show Matt her favorite place,” say Elizabeth + Matthew. “Once we got engaged, it was a no brainer!”

What drew them most to Nobu Hotel – Los Cabos as a wedding location was the architecture, the simplicity, and the modern aesthetic. “Most Cabo hotels are very classically Spanish colorful vibes, and we loved how Nobu was more of a formal feeling,” the couple says. “We always wanted a black tie wedding and Nobu screams black tie.”

We’ve got brilliant photos by LA76 Photography to show you, so put on your absolute finest and prepare to fall in love with Elizabeth + Matthew’s black tie beach celebration!

Why shouldn’t your best gals be your something blue?! Blue satin bridesmaid robes like the ones Elizabeth’s crew rocked for the getting ready portion of the day might make the perfect bridesmaid gift for your own BFFs!

How STUNNING is this b+w one-shoulder mother of the bride dress!!

The First Look

“Our relationship is so much fun,” say Elizabeth + Matthew. “We are supportive of one another, independent, and have a great foundation for the rest of our lives. Our families both love their son/daughter-in law, and Matt and I were both raised very similarly even though on opposite ends of the country.”

“We both are huge sports fans,” says Elizabeth. “We go to a lot of sporting events, watch sports almost every night on TV, etc.. I think Matt was pleasantly surprised when we started dating that I loved sports as well! His dream come true!”

Los Cabos Makeup created the neutral smokey eye look that went perfectly with her clean + modern bridal updo.

We are beyond obsessed with the voluminous tulle skirt and embellished floral bodice of Elizabwth’s Martina Liana wedding gown.

A Sunny Seaside Ceremony

This wedding welcome sign! Simple, modern perfection.

We are in TOTAL AWE of this baby’s breath floral arch by Let It Be Events.

“The ceremony decor was the best part of all,” says the couple. “There were over 200,000 stems of baby’s breath making an outstanding frame arch for us over a white vinyl stage to tie the knot. This arch was relocated behind our sweetheart table for the reception, and it was totally perfection.”

Can you think of anything more epically romantic than sharing a first dance to Adele’s “Make You Feel My Love” while cold sparks erupt all around you?

These die-hard sports fans went with custom rally towels when deciding on clever wedding guest favors for their friends + fam.

Who says you have to have a wedding cake? We love to see couples embracing a diverse sweets table full of different wedding desserts!

You know the bride’s ready to boogie when she switches into her bridal sneakers!

How FABULOUS is Elizabeth’s beaded fringe reception dress!!

Congrats, Elizabeth + Matthew, on your contemporary b+w black tie beach wedding in Cabo! Here’s to a marriage full of fireworks!
