The internet will always remember August 2024 as the moment brat summer intersected with a new enthusiasm for all things “demure.”
Charli XCX’s summer-anthem-filled dance pop album BRAT had us all embracing lime green, Arial font, and all sorts of messy + chaotically carefree vibes. Then TikTok creator Jools Lebron came along and won everyone over with a hilarious angle on the benefits of keeping things demure, reminding the world that some classy restraint is sometimes called for.
This wedding editorial from a creative team of vendors is a brilliant balance of bright + reckless brattiness and “very demure, very mindful” sophistication. And we cannot get enough.
“Meridian House in Washington DC was the perfect backdrop for collaborating with the renowned event designer Grit & Grace and the floral virtuoso Max Owens Design, brought together by planners from Develope Academy,” says photographer Jennifer Nolan. “Grit & Grace’s modern design had vibrant colors everywhere. The florals were the main characters, with pinks, oranges, and greens—Max Owens’ team featured a variety of colors that organically fused into the classic setting of Meridian House.”
Historic gardens. French urban architecture. Bold colors. Edgy + playful design. “The timeless yet colorful, fun, and distinctive design paired beautifully with the classic setting,” Jennifer Nolan says, and she’s absolutely right.
So push play on your fave BRAT track and lets get into this dreamy + very demure editorial.
