Rich Reds + Iconic Looks for This Dreamy + Creative California Wedding

Planning

Prepare to be inspired, cause this one’s for all of the artists out there. For the non-traditional brides + grooms and the creative couples with a unique vision for what their wedding could look like.

Talia directs + edits films. Jimi’s a music producer + composer. Together they make up the musical duo “She’ll Hunt.” The artistic pair first met at a songwriting session in Nashville, and that was that. We are so glad they fell for each other, because their combined creativity led to this unbelievably interesting rich, red celebration in Orange, CA.

“This is probably the most unique wedding I’ve seen/photographed,” says photographer Eric of West Imagery. “The couple’s unique choice of attire and design was amazing to document!”

Grand Gimeno provided a perfect backdrop for the day’s stand-out look, with its mission-style architecture lending plenty of character and its low-key spaces acting as a beautifully blank canvas. And Details, Darling collaborated with the couple to fill the venue with all the vibrant + romantic red, orange, blush pink, and magenta details that created its dreamy, love-drunk vibe.

“We knew we wanted a very colorful wedding full of personal touches,” say Talia + Jimi. There was a jazz band made up of members Jimi hand selected that played during cocktail hour. And all the jaw-dropping wedding day looks you’re about to see—the bridesmaid’s veils and the groomsmen’s looks—those were all Talia’s unique design vision.

It’s always so exciting to share a wedding like Talia + Jimi’s that wasn’t afraid to go in a brand new direction with its design, and we can’t wait to see the creative celebrations it inspires!

The Ceremony

How precious is this wavy, bow-adorned wedding welcome sign! Hand drawn details like this signage gave the day its dreamy whimsy.

We are blown away by the rich + romantic ceremony vibe that Cultivated By Faith created with color clustered flowers.

Our Favorite Memory From The Wedding

Probably our vows. Without realizing it, we said so many of the same things to each other. We were also blessed with the slightest drizzle towards the end of Talia’s vows, followed by sunshine. It was the perfect touch of good luck.

“We listened to the Internets advice and stopped for a kiss and dip at the end of the aisle,” say Talia + Jimi of their ceremony exit. “Great photo opportunity and our guests loved it!”

Not sure if we’ll ever get over these perfectly curated bridesmaid dresses and the way the custom veils transformed them into a total editorial fashion moment.

“I was so happy with how the veils turned out,” says Talia. “Seeing the bridesmaids walk down the aisle with them on really felt like watching a fashion show. They knocked it out of the park, absolutely nailed my vision! “

The Reception

Talia + Jimi brought even more adorable hand-drawn charm with this wedding reception seating chart!

Dark wood guest seating + sprawling banquet tables from Adore Folklore gave the reception decor its chic and grounded-yet-festive feel.

Who doesn’t love a carnation!!

A Musical Moment

“After the ceremony, I changed into my mother’s winter formal dress from high school,” says Talia of this meaningful vintage reception dress moment. “It was so special to wear and paired perfectly with my second red veils.”

Why pass up the chance to make some music together on your wedding day? “We knew we wanted to perform at the reception,” says the couple, “so we did a live version of the jazz standard ‘Let’s Do It.’”

Rossmoor Pastries created Talia + Jimi’s vintage-inspired maraschino cherry-adorned three tier wedding cake.

Our Advice To Those Planning Now
