Can you imagine coming to the end of the night, newly married to your soulmate, while every detail + bit of decor had purpose + value? That’s Farah + Andrew — two lovers from LA who dashed off to the golden hills of Andalusia for their I do’s. And once the vows were sealed, nothing used to decorate the event was tossed away afterward. It’s a totally magical, totally beautiful, totally waste-free wedding. Sounds like a massive challenge, but it’s one that Opi of Open the Door events was immediately excited about:
As soon as Farah contacted me, I knew we would become friends. Her kind, warm and trusting approach made planning their wedding such a beautiful experience.
Farah, a sustainability advisor, wanted her celebration to align with her beliefs and be an ethical, waste-free, eco-friendly event. Andrew, a writer and director, had just finished filming his upcoming movie The Last Shift which was to premiere at the Sundance film festival in 2020. When F + A came out to Spain, they left their commitments to work behind and really immersed themselves in the present moment. Their wedding was emotional and raw and many tears were shared as well as deep words from thirty of their dearest friends and family.
Photographer, Joy Zamora, captured all the gorgeous details of the day. Let’s have a look!
Waste-Free Wedding Florals + Decor
For the day’s florals by Andaluflor, about 70% were local foraged dried leaves and blooms that could be reused. Fresh flowers served as a pop of color against the natural earthy backdrop of the Andalusian mountains.
Here Comes the Bride
Farah donned a lovely Galia Lahav dress!
Such a sweet moment for these two, surrounded by a circle of family and friends!
Newlyweds!
Smoke bombs for the recessional!
The perfect opportunity to show off those gorgeous Alexandre Birman green wedding shoes! 😉
Personalized + Eco-Friendly Decor
Poems by Rumi and Rupi Kaur were written in beautiful calligraphy by Cristina Tipagrafia on natural organic linen.
Canela & Clavo created a delicious spread for guests to munch on!
Reception Dinner Under a Tunnel of Dried Palms
And now to THE most magical setting: dinner beneath a tunnel of earthy palm leaves over one long dining table and dreamy lights hung low for an even cozier experience.
SO DREAMY! And nothing like twinkling lights to elevate the romance, right? All the spaces were filled with organic soy wax candles and led lighting from Eclectic Rentals.
All the signage was handmade with kaddi paper from India that had been tinted with flowers.
Now this is a tunnel of love if we ever saw one.
Here’s another look at the beautiful day from Pai Pai!
All our congrats to Farah + Andrew!
