Hello loves – how are you doing? We’re kicking midweek into touch with a charming wedding held on the Kent coast, and featuring a bride wearing a dress by one of our absolute favourite designers ever.
Lovely bride Laura, Director of Group Sales at the beautiful Rosewood London, married her beau James, a fashion consultant, on 17th August 2019 at The Ferry House Inn on The Isle of Sheppey – a beautiful little Island just off the coast of Kent and located just about 40 miles from London. The couple’s day was completely relaxed with gentle bohemian vibe and one gorgeous gown by the wonderful Halfpenny London (whose portfolio on Love My Dress we have updated only today, with details of her brand new collection, ‘Daydreaming’ – which you just have to see, because it’s breathtaking).

“We really wanted everyone to feel relaxed and for our guests to let their hair down. We wanted to put our own stamp on the day but didn’t want anything formal. The inspiration was ‘vintage and boho’, and so the venue and all the styling, from the colour palettes, crockery, table lay and old crossback chairs etc, were chosen to reflect this concept.”
“James and I met online and immediately hit it off, we have been together for 7 years overall. James proposed to me in Capri, on the most amazing balcony of our boutique hotel overlooking the bay of Naples, couldn’t have been more romantic and perfect. We had been engaged for 1 year before we tied the knot.”
Photographer Matt Ebbage was hired to document the day through imagery and did a gorgeous job from the ‘getting ready’ through to those lovely intimate moments between the couple themselves at hte end of the day.

The bride donned a pair of pretty Charlotte Mills shoes in soft pink velvet. Absolutely dreamy – and a perfect heel height too…
We’re assuming this is the Mama of the bride and would like to bow down should that be the case at her effortless, elegant style. What a beautiful, feminine, flattering outfit!
“The service at Halfpenny London was amazing, from the moment I stepped through the door. I had tried on already about 20 dresses at other stores and was starting to despair. The team at Halfpenny London immediately put me at ease, they understood my budget and style I was trying to achieve and then I just started trying on outfits!”
“The hardest part was choosing which Halfpenny London dress I liked the most – I would definitely recommend to other brides.”
“The Halfpenny London style fitted perfectly with the overall bohemian and vintage feel we were trying to achieve for our wedding day. My dress was an exaggerated version of my normal style.”
These sumptuous bouquet was created by Liberty Florals who brought together a gorgeous mix of Dahlia, roses and Eucalyptus in pink and dark, earthy tones.
“We got married at The Ferry House Inn, at The Isle of Sheppey. We love that area and we often go the that part of the coast on the weekends to escape the buzz of the city.”
The venue is amazing, it’s an old pub which sits beautifully in a nature reserve and it has wonderful views – perfect for a wedding. When we went for our initial wedding showround we fell in love with the venue and we also felt confident from that first moment that the team would deliver a fantastic wedding for us.”
The bride’s father John accompanied her to the ceremony…
“Our wonderful musician Amu Acoustic played and sang Skinny Love by Bon Iver for our walking down the aisle.”
“Moira, owner of Bespoke by Patience Jewellery, is a friend of James. James designed my engagement ring and our wedding rings too. Laura really wanted a vintage engagement ring and James designed a unique vintage ring for her instead.”
“Our photographer Matt Ebbage was absolutely the nicest and crazy talented wedding photographer we have met (we know a lot of them from our professions!). What a pleasure to have him at the wedding.”
“He fitted in so wonderfully. The moments he managed to capture we so so beautiful and really did reflect the day perfectly. Cannot rate him highly enough.”
The groom defied tradition and had a ‘best woman’ – which we LOVE.
“We wanted a rustic, bohemian feel to match the venue and relaxed vibe, without it all looking too polished, and so for hire, set-up, styling and flowers, we used styling company Idyllic Days and florist, Liberty Florals.”
Shying away from tradition again, the couple opted for a cheese tower over a traditional wedding cake…
“We had a massive cheese tower provided by The Ferry House Inn – who wants cake after dessert?! Well, we didn’t! We love a bit of cheese and port so it was a no brainer for us. Plus we got to take the left overs home.”
“It’s so hard to find my favourite part of the day as we filled the whole day with all our favourite things, that I enjoyed every moment. But having the speeches outside on hay bales was pretty epic!”
“We decided not to have a first dance as we wanted to steer away from some formalities.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom
“It’s yours and your partners day – make it how you want it to be. Also, plan everything well in advance so that when it comes to the day the only thing you have to worry about is saying I DO.”
