Today’s real wedding pairs incredibly well with a hot cup of coffee! La Colombe coffee, specifically. This celebration includes gorgeous protea arrangements, sweet salt lamps and classically glamorous styling for the bride + groom. DiSalvo Events helped Emily + Mike plan their perfect day.
E + M shared a bit about their caffeine-inspired wedding vision: Authenticity was paramount for us as we planned our wedding. We had our first date and fell in love, and then settled down in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, so we felt that it was important to extend our love story there. Our venue, La Colombe is the mecca of Fishtown and embodied the exact low key, industrial, epicurean vibe we were going for. After we picked our venue, everything else fell into place.

A Glam Bride
Holy sweet sparkle! We need to know more about this gorgeous Berta dress. Emily shares a bit about finding ‘the dress:’ Even though we were going for a relaxed vibe at our wedding, I wanted to find a dress that was elevated enough to feel like a real bride. I’ve always been drawn to complex texture and detail, so I was immediately attracted to the Berta design; as it was the perfect blend of boho + glam that I was looking for.
I originally spotted the dress on Instagram and fell in love, but wanted to have a shopping experience with my mom + close friends. After realizing that I was comparing every dress I tried on to the Berta gown, I decided to pull the trigger! Since there was so much detail going on with my gown, I only accessorized with earrings. I found the most unique pair from Israel—I’m still obsessed with them and wear them on date nights!
Papertini created such gorgeous + wispy florals for this coffee shop wedding! We love the king protea in Emily’s bridal bouquet.
La Colombe Portraits
The floral hoops and La Colombe wood barrels background is rad for this ceremony! You don’t have to be a coffee lover to love this.

Coffee House Couple and a Corgi
E + M’s corgi, Fiona, played a big part in the day and even donned a beautiful flower harness to match Emily’s bouquet. Clearly, Fiona is very comfortable in front of the camera!
Warm Glow + Hygge Reception
From a design perspective, E + M were inspired by the Danish vibe of Hygge, and wanted to exude glowy, natural florals through the evening. For this reason, they combined design elements of café au lait dahlias, eucalyptus, protea, bishop’s balls, salt lamps + loads of candles throughout the reception.
Bring on the pretzel balls! E + M were thrilled to work with La Colombe’s head chef to develop a family-style dinner menu with passed plates ranging from curried carrot soup shooters and pretzel rolls (to honor Philadelphia, of course), to butternut squash + sage pizza.
Take the time to understand who you are as a couple and, what you value; and plan your day to truly embody what’s most important to you. Don’t feel tied to traditional wedding conventions out of pressure or just for the sake of having them. Your wedding day should be a compilation of everything you love, and each element should represent you in some way. Weddings have become so predictable over the years, so the timing is prime to disrupt old traditions with crafted elements that extend all that is unique about your partnership. Also, buy items for your wedding that you’ll use again. It’s so special to re-wear my pearl earrings or set out salt lamps on our table for dinners at home. These items carry the memories and energy from our big day and I love using them over and over again!
Couple’a Cakes Table
E + M are both huge dessert lovers, and there was no way they could settle on just one cake. So, they took inspiration from the ‘cookie table’ tradition and developed their own dessert table with a range of cakes from Cake Life Bake Shop (who also made Beyonce’s birthday cake, NBD)!
