Another crazy twist and turn thanks to Covid-19! This time, however, the coronavirus pandemic struck while Michelle + John were on their honeymoon in Sri Lanka. In fact, they’re still stuck there, and have been for three months!!! M + J haven’t let the unexpected extended vacation dampen their spirits though. Avid travel lovers, they’re making the most of their circumstances. Their Spanish-inspired meets boho meets tropical wedding at The Casino in San Clemente was just the appetizer to their great adventure. Fawn Events helped them to design a dream day full of global inspiration. M shares more:
Actually it wasn’t a huge surprise to anyone that my husband and I found ourselves in this situation hah! We love to travel – which is why a lot of our wedding had a wanderlust twist to the details. I love color and tropical countries, like Mexico, Thailand, Guatemala, and Peruvian beaches, so I utilized rich warm tones in the overall color scheme to remind me of those places.
Jarrod J Photo captured the most stunning photos of this vibrant day. Ready to see it? Let’s go!
A DIY Bride
M is definitely a go-getter and a creative. Since she works as an artist, she was able to design all of the paper goods herself. She shares that she loved the opportunity to add in details from the many places she and J have visited. Erin Elise Art provided illustrations, and M enlisted Omega Printers to bring the invites to life.
The Ladies
M and her girls were looking stunning thanks to hair by Kaelyn Christine and makeup by Ashley Tani.
Loving this mix of sea foam green and pale rose bridesmaids dresses! M’s gals shopped Birdy Grey and Show me Your Mumu for their gowns. Find more inspiration below:
The Gents
J and the guys were looking classic and dapper in black attire from The Black Tux.
THAT TRAIN!!!
M’s Pronovias gown is sweeping us off our feet!! How gorgeous is that flowing train and off-the-shoulder neckline. She picked up this beauty at Lee Hwa Wedding boutique and paired it with Stuart Weitzman shoes.
Spanish-inspired Decor
Joy of Bloom designed the perfect floral mash-up of tropical, boho, and Mediterranean! We are in awe of this color and texture!!
We love a good installation! Here are 19 Creative Floral Installations to Make Your Wedding Design Wow!
Seal it with a kiss!
It’s so difficult to say what my favorite moment was because everything felt like a dream, but probably the most satisfying accomplishment was that my husband and I prepared a surprise performance for our guests and it was quite a hit. We had been practicing a 7-minute lip-syncing and choreographed dance (for weeks) composed of lip syncing “Shallow” from a Star is Born, solo dancing “Formation” -Beyonce, “24K Magic”-Bruno Mars, duet dancing “Mi Gente”- J Balvin, “Hypnotize” -Notorious B.I.G. and a HUGE finale: “Time of my life,” ending with the famous lift from Dirty Dancing
The Newlyweds
Nothing more stunning than pictures on the beach!
Reception Style
Loving everything about this styled lounge space that Sundrop Vintage set up. The colors, the fabrics, the natural elements are all perfect!
M + J named their signature cocktails after their favorite trips. We bet they’ll have one for Sri Lanka now!
This elegant lighting and the amazing focal flowers add so much style and drama to the reception space.
Hostess Haven provided the table top rentals for the reception. We love how M kept things minimal and clean to really let the colorful florals take center stage!
First a fab ceremony installation, and now a stunning hanging installation. M + J were on their flower game! Here are some more hanging floral installation ideas for your wedding day.
Loving the global and tropical vibes for this sweetheart table!
We’ve never known anyone who doesn’t love a good dessert table! Kimberly’s Cupcakes set up all of these sweets and they look AMAZING!
Marriage is an Adventure
As we continue to wait here in Sri Lanka for our return home, I continue to look back at how truly incredible our wedding day was and how uniquely special it is that we were able to gather, dance, cry and laugh with all our friends and family for one last party.
Such a crazy but inspiring story Michelle + John! Thank you for sharing your vibrant wedding day with us. The GWS Team wishes you congratulations and a safe journey home very soon (you can follow their honeymoon journey here)!
