When you combine your favorite things into your wedding day decor, that’s when the day becomes 100% true to you. For Cheyenne + Joe, those favorites happen to be colored candles, pampas grass, lanterns, and spicy, inviting colors. For months, they spent time together, collecting the design pieces for their day, and when it finally came together, it was boho perfection. C shares with us about how they made their backyard elopement all they ever wanted:
Our inspiration and goal for our elopement was to create a romantic outdoor setting with my two obsessions: warm color palettes and lighting/candles. We vowed our lives to each other under a tree on the property I grew up on, a place that we both love. We plan to have a home there in the future. For us, it doesn’t get much more special than that. We focused on the intimacy of our day in a place that we both feel at home. It was everything I dreamt of.
Finding Eden Photo captured all the beauty. Ready to take a look? Let’s go!
Backyard Setting
This right here proves that sometimes the most beautiful displays are the simplest. C + J transformed this cherished backyard space by simply hanging lanterns from the limbs of this magnificent tree, and setting up a colorful collection of candles and pampas grass arrangements at the base.
Without a doubt, my favorite memory of the day was reading our vows to each other. I was nervous for MONTHS for that moment, but the second I started reading them to him I felt a sense of peace that’s truly just indescribable. It’s crazy how I can now look at the photos during our vows and remember exactly what was being said and how I felt in that moment just by seeing his face.

Elopement Dress
C’s head-to-toe lace gown from Loveliest Bridal is boho perfection and very bridal! She paired it with a dramatic chapel veil with lace detailing. It’s proof that just because you’re planning a backyard elopement, you don’t have to sacrifice on your dress dreams!
Thistle and Lace Florals designed C’s elopement bouquet and we are OBSESSED with the palette! Golden yellow, dusty rose, cappuccino, and amber pair so perfectly together.
Eloping allowed us to have absolutely everything we wanted, and nothing we didn’t. We were not willing to look back and regret anything about our day, so we didn’t allow the opinions of anyone else affect what we chose to do. I recommend that approach to anyone planning a wedding, small or large. Choose a location that feels right for you, whether it be on a mountain top in another country, or a tree in your parents backyard. Your feelings for your partner that day will create all the magic your heart desires.
Ever After
Congratulations Cheyenne + Joe! Thank you for sharing your backyard elopement and inspiring so many couples who are planning the same! The GWS team is wishing you guys lots of love and happiness!
