King-Wey + Louis wed in a civil ceremony a month before gathering to say their vows before friends and family — and beneath some jaw-dropping statement floral installations! And it’s no wonder the flowers were front and center. King-Wey is the florist behind Alright Petal Flowers, so she’s got an eye for unique, dreamy design! She collaborated with Hazel Gardiner Design to create something truly magical.
It was important to the couple not to do anything “for the sake of it” or because “that’s what people do at weddings.” They preferred to plan a day that authentically represented themselves as a couple…even if their choices raised a few eyebrows among more traditional guests.
Through her own work as a wedding + events florist, King-Wey had a list of suppliers she knew she wanted to work with. Calling on friends who knew them well made it easy to achieve a highly personal feel throughout the day. Case in point: that bespoke blush wedding dress which we immediately fell in love with!
Let’s have a look at the details of the day captured by Jessica Williams!

The Bride Wore Bespoke Blush
King-Wey’s custom gown was made by Jenny Lessin, a wedding dress designer and friend to the bride since the start of her journey as a florist. They both knew the dress would be flower-heavy, but Jenny also wanted it to be representative of the way King-Wey works with flowers. The dress was playful with 3D handmade silk organza flowers tumbling down the train, and included elements of surprise through the use of color — pops of brighter oranges, pinks and muddy greens.

Statement Floral Installations at the Shoreditch Ceremony
The couple heard of The Tab Centre from a friend and found it to be a hidden gem in the middle of Shoreditch, surprisingly unheard of by Londoners and wedding suppliers alike. The historic Victorian building was the perfect blank space to create some magic! Knowing that all the venue’s profits go back into funding the Tab Centre’s many community projects made it a no-brainer for the duo.
With two florists on the scene, the flowers needed to make a statement! King-Wey wanted to work with Hazel Gardiner Design because of her distinctive and unique style. The big focal pieces were the hanging statement floral installations and the meadows — full of texture and packed with interesting ingredients.
The ceremony was a relaxed and informal affair led by King-Wey’s best friend. They finished with a singalong to Whitney Houston’s “My Love Is Your Love” accompanied by a jazz trio of Louis’ university friends!

Bridesmaids in Rust + Gold
We just love this unique mix of color! Romantic and autumnal, dahlias (the bride’s favorites) were abundant in the bouquets.
A Flower-Filled Reception
Just STUNNING!
Fun fact! We wanted to share these stunning florals for a hanging installation round-up and then we saw all the details. We knew King-Wey + Louis’ wedding deserved its own feature! But if dreamy statement installations are your thing, here are a few more to love:
