FRINGE is in for Fall 2020! We’ve seen a big uptick of tassel-embellished jackets and dresses lately on GWS that we had to make our own version of the beloved new trend. After putting this DIY fringe jean jacket together in a record 30 minutes – we knew you could do this, too! So perfect for an adventurous elopement, backyard intimate wedding, or drive-by shower! Wanting to add customization? Easy! Here’s how we created a custom bridal jacket in just a few simple steps…
How Do You Make a Fringe Denim Jacket?
What You’ll Need:
• Denim Jacket
• Fringe (about 1 yard)
• Letters
• Needle & thread
• Iron
Step 1: Place your letters on your jacket on a flat surface and iron down each letter according to the instructions. The letters are where you can really customize. Add your new last name, paint the letters on instead – lots of options here!
Step 2: Lay your fringe down onto the back seam of the jacket (or just wherever you want to place it) pin it down in place so it doesn’t move around.
Step 3: You have a few options here on how to attach the fringe. The most secure way is to take the jacket to your sewing machine and just topstitch the fringe down. If you don’t have a sewing machine or know someone who can help, simply hand stitching the fringe down will do the trick. Just make sure to use close-together stitches to ensure the fringe lays flat to the jacket and double knot on each end.
