The latest Modern Love Event at Masaya Desert Ranch gives us so much wanderlust for a Joshua Tree Wedding! Designing with a neutral color palette – which will forever be a timeless bride’s best friend! – the design is anything but boring in this dreamy desert setup. With custom macramé chandeliers, an epic serpentine reception table, and of course, unique wedding details that you’ve never seen before, the latest Modern Love Event is here to fill your Pinterest boards! Event designer Jaime, from Wild Heart Events, shares this about their inspiration:
We are so used to the Modern Love Event being bright and colorful that we thought it might be fun to go neutral for once, and the desert seemed to be the perfect spot! In true Modern Love fashion, we spared no detail as our photographers were welcomed with custom cocktails from the The Typsy Gypsy Bar and a charcuterie spread on a beautiful mirrored display by Farm and Harvest. The Ma Sa Ya desert backdrop was perfect for every detail.
We know you’re ready to see the pretty that Emily Magers Photo captured, so without further ado, let’s go!
All in the Details
Texture and Tequila designed an exquisite invitation suite that honored the neutral palette, but made things interesting by incorporating torn edges and unexpected arched shapes to the paper.
A Joshua Tree Wedding Ceremony Setup
If you aren’t familiar with the Modern Love Event, they’re all about bringing together the top wedding pros to create an immersive and interactive photoshoot opportunity for photographers. The end goal is to add eye-catching, wedding-ready shots to their portfolios! Modern Love is known for incorporating on-trend details and unique decor elements like this Glowing Petal iridescent box backdrop.
Beauty Bespoken kept the models dewy and fresh-faced with natural and effortless makeup and hair looks.
Desert-Inspired Florals
Layered Vintage captured the dusty and muted tones of the desert landscape in their floral designs for the event. We’re loving the beige, rust and sage palette up against the more traditional neutrals.
All About the Attire
We love a groom in some colorful attire! This rusty gold velvet jacket from Friar Tux is perfection for a Joshua Tree wedding.
The dresses for the day look right at home in the windswept desert plains. Wedding gowns from The Dress Theory featured delicate frills, modern bows, and just a hint of sparkle.
Joshua Tree Wedding Reception Decor
Talk about a setup with some WOW FACTOR! Rental team Catalog Atelier and Adore Folklore crafted the giant overheard hooks that showcased these fabulous macramé chandeliers. And of course, a Joshua Tree wedding wouldn’t be complete without a standout tablescape! This custom serpentine table gives such a whimsical touch to the neutral linens and tabletop decor.
Spice Up a Neutral Palette
Loving the mix of stoneware, ceramics and natural fibers in the place settings! Adding in different textures helps to spice up a neutral color palette.
Jaime shares: We wanted our tablescape to be really over the top so we asked Stevie of Hey There Cupcake to make 4 architectural cakes to showcase down the serpentine. Her cakes are always the showstopper and we were so excited to highlight them directly on the dinner table.
Sunset adds a special magic to the setup, don’t ya think? …. that Joshua Tree light!
Every perfectly designed wedding needs a charcuterie display, and this one by Farm and Harvest has us ready to sit down and start snacking!

Doesn’t this day give you a whole new perspective on the neutral color palette? Not to mention the urge to run out and buy a few fluffy macramé chandeliers! A big thank you goes to the talented Modern Love Event vendor team for sharing this beautiful desert wedding inspiration with us!
