Shayna + Kada are bringing the drama today with some seriously edgy bridal fashion (looking at you, black wedding dress) and a most romantic wedding in the redwoods! They made their vows official surrounded by mighty trees in Santa Cruz, CA. Their families looked on as their small ceremony unfolded with plenty of romance and significance:
We have a great love for the redwood trees and everything they encompass. Their resilience and strength to endure through every challenge is unmatched, representative of us as individuals and our relationship. Redwoods are also known for their groves, a circle-like formation that forms as the redwood reproduces. The groves keep the “family” close for thousands of years. We wanted the day to be edgy, yet romantic and classic, to pull our style and emotion into the day.

First Look with a View
The day began with a first look on a hill before gathering with family for the ceremony. Can you feel the anticipation?!
Prior to our vows, we both read a ceremony letter to one another. We can both agree that it was probably the most memorable moment for us. The letters were passionate, raw, and full of emotion. We believe it really allowed our families to see our relationship in the way we do: raw and unedited, exactly for what it is. Also, who can deny the mountain top view at our first look?! That is a memory we will never forget.
Brides in Black
Do we love all black or do we LOVE ALL BLACK. Kada wore a lace + long sleeve black wedding dress by Maggie Sottero and Shayna stepped into a black suit from Houndstooth KC.

Here Come the Newlyweds
Our advice for anyone planning is to do exactly what you want. Do you want to eat pizza for your reception? Eat pizza. You want three people at your ceremony, have three people there. Don’t let outsiders (family/friends) try to persuade you into doing something one way or a traditional way that doesn’t sit with who you are or what you want your day to be. It is your day, do what you want! And TAKE IT ALL IN. It is the fastest day of your life!
