Dentist Charlotte and Investment Manager Paul tied the knot on 24th June 2023 with a gloriously stylish and charming wedding at The Cow Shed in Crail, Scotland.
Styled to perfection by the wonderful team at GLOAM, who also provided all the floral styling and stationery, and hwo we take great pleasure in recommending to all our readers, the couple wanted to embrace the rustic, elegant charm of their venue, with its beautiful farm backdrop. They wanted as many guests to stay on site as possible to join them in their celebration and joy.Charlotte wore a gown by Savannah Miller and these gorgeous images are by Wonderful and Strange. Enjoy!
Bridesmaids & Accessories
GLOAM made me some gorgeous white lisianthus flower hairpins. My perfume was The Matcha 26 by Le Labo.
My bridesmaids wore the Taylor dress by Ghost, in the colours sage. The bridesmaids wore their own shoes and jewellery. We agreed a nude heeled shoe. I wore my mothers three stone trilogy diamond earrings and a Cartier trinity ring. My shoes were from Freya Rose London.
Photography
Our photographers were Martyna and David from Wonderful and Strange. Their portfolio was exactly the style of photos we wanted for our wedding day. Raw, natural moments. They capture the beauty of their couples wedding days perfectly.
They are the most gorgeous, fun-loving, energetic couple and they couldn’t have made us feel more relaxed on our wedding day. They felt like friends on the day rather than wedding photographers. We and our guests had so much fun with them which shows in our photographs. So many guests complimented them after the day which says it all. Couldn’t recommend them more.

How They Met
Paul and I both grew up in Edinburgh. Paul was working up here and I was studying down in Leeds but I was up for my summer holidays in 2017 when we first met. We were a Bumble online dating match. We planned to go on our first date on a Wednesday but fortuitously bumped into each other the Saturday before. We had a long distance relationship until I graduated from Leeds dental school back in in 2020 when I moved in with Paul in his flat up in Edinburgh.
Paul proposed in April 2021 as the sun was setting over our gorgeous homestay in a reinterpreted barn in Billingshurst, West Sussex. We were engaged for just over two years. We had a long engagement as both of us have close family overseas and wanted to make sure travel wasn’t an issue with all the covid regulations.
Paul wore a kilt with his day jacket. He had a bespoke waistcoat made in his family tartan from Kinloch Anderson.
Favourite Moments
The favourite part of my wedding day was undoubtedly the love that enveloped us, radiating from the presence of our dearest friends and family. Their support and genuine happiness filled the air, making us feel truly cherished.
It is a day that marks the beginning of a new chapter, but it also highlights the power of love, friendship, and the bonds of family. Being surrounded by our loved ones on our special day brought immense joy and created lasting memories that we will forever treasure.
There is absolutely nothing we would have done differently – it was perfect for us ☺
Evening & Dancing
We hired the Capella String Trio for the ceremony and reception. We hired Nashville Heat for the evening band. Our first dance track was to ‘There Will Be Time’, by Mumford & Sons and Baaba Maal. Our friend Nikki recommend this song to us and as soon as we listened to it we knew it was for us. We wanted a song to allow Paul and I to share our intimate ‘first dance’ moment together but then energetic enough to get everyone dancing along with us to set the party atmosphere for the rest of the evening.

Words of Wedded Wisdom
Love My Dress has a very helpful directory that can filter location. So many times I’d research suppliers on Google and find out after correspondence that they are England based.
Enjoy it! It can be a stressful process, with all the different aspects of the day to consider, but it goes so quickly and it’ll be a memory before you know it, so relish the process up as much as you can.
Make sure you carve some quality time for you and your fiancé before the big day. It was quite overwhelming the few weeks leading up to the day with deadlines and admin and we didn’t feel as connected as we wanted, so I booked a trip away for us for a few nights to reset and unwind and enjoy our last few nights together as fiancés. We were so glad we did this as we came back feeling refreshed, relaxed and more ready than ever to get married!
We didn’t really set a budget per say as we didn’t know how much weddings costed! We set a list of things that were absolute priority to us and made sure we were happy with the quality of those things to give us a rough gauge of expenses and then went from there. The total budget was probably around the mark that we expected.
