Our talented recommended wedding photographer, Bernadeta Kupiec, photographed and styled this beautifully romantic editorial styled shoot at Gosford House in East Lothian, Scotland.
This editorial features an elegant floral bridal gown design by Josephine Scott London, whose feminine gowns blend traditional old-world glamour with thoughtful, modern interpretations.
Whilst we’re here – a quick note on styled shoots; there’s a fair bit of chatter over on the Threads app currently around styled shoots (you’ll find all the opinions here!). All I’d like to say is this…
A whole tonne of love, passion and creativity gets poured into good quality styled shoots, like the one on this very page. They help build portfolios, flex creative muscle, hone creative style, network with other professionals, get published and generate enquiries.
This is how many newer creatives entering the scene get started. I absolutely believe a photographer and any creative for that matter, should be allowed to share their real weddings and styled shoots as examples of their talent and creativity, on their website.
I also firmly believe that any creative supplier, be they a photographer or otherwise, should trust your capacity as the viewer of their work, and as a potential bride or groom, to discern between different types of content, ie, what’s authentic versus what’s stylised, and to assess the importance of this to you.
In my view, as long as it’s evident that the photographer has sufficient experience capturing real wedding moments, then the composition of their portfolio, whether it encompasses a mix of genuine wedding shots and styled editorials, shouldn’t be a cause for concern.
I don’t share many styled shoots on Love My Dress, and that’s a personal choice. It’s largely because I prefer to share the realness of weddings – that content has an entirely different, more authentic energy for me. But where the aesthetic aligns well with Love My Dress, I simply love to support our recommended suppliers and venues in their efforts to produce inspirational content for couples planning weddings, and this editorial you see on this page is a beautiful example of just that. I hope you appreciate it too.
So with all that said, please allow me to share more from this beautifully considered editorial, representing a great team of creative talent. Words by the wonderfully talented Bernadeta Kupiec follow below.
