Okay, how cute is this: New Orleans-based newlyweds Lauren + Tyler first met when a mutual friend brought Lauren along to Tyler’s Friendsgiving dinner. Off to an absolutely adorable start, the love story that followed led the couple to this stunning, holistic, and spiritually-in-tune destination wedding weekend in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

“We wanted the whole experience to feel intentional, and like a ceremony,” say Lauren + Tyler. “From the outset, we chose to select things according to our desires, and tried to avoid things that ‘you are supposed to do’ at a wedding.  For example, there was no wedding cake, no first dance, no bridesmaids or groomsmen.”

Lauren owns a clean beauty + wellness spa and Tyler (alongside his commercial real estate firm) owns The Tell Me Bar, a natural wine bar in NOLA. So the wedding that planners + event designers from Penzi Weddings helped Lauren + Tyler put together was heavily influenced by their passions for mindfulness, healthy living, and fabulous natural wine.

“As we began to plan our wedding, we wanted to incorporate our passion for health and wellness,” the couple says. Our Habitas San Miguel in Mexico became the natural choice for our celebration, as it includes breathwork, yoga, sound baths, beautiful nature, and quality food.”

The gorgeous photos that Ildefonso Gutierrez took throughout the weekend are proof that this ethereal, eclectic, ceremonial, destination celebration was really special, and we can’t wait to show you!

The Night Before

The evening before Lauren + Tyler officially tied the knot, guests gathered around a candlelit banquet table at Atrio to start the celebrations off right.

The Ceremony

“Our guests and us began the day with yoga class to be a release and heart opening practice, setting the mood for the day to come,” remembers the couple. “This relaxed and meditative vibe was carried over into the wedding and the reception, where giant bowls of copal were burning, as traditional incense is used to connect the divine and mystical and also used to clean negative energy and for protection.”

“We felt the beautiful energy of Danielle, Lauren’s recently departed mother whose presence we felt all day.”

Not only were there flowers in Lauren’s wedding dress, there were flowers adorning her matching wedding veil as well!

Our Advice To Those Planning Now

The wedding is a ceremony to celebrate the love of the couple, and it's a way to bring people from both lives together- everyone present loves you for who you are. We made decisions based upon what we authentically desired and it was a really beautiful way to create a space for us and our guests.

Tyler looked earthy + sophisticated in his sand-tone wedding suit from Harper + Jones and a pair of black woven loafers.

The Reception

When guests arrived at the reception they were greeted by thoughtful place cards that were pulled from an oracle deck, and every seat had a quote from one of the newlyweds’ favorite spiritual teachers.

Our Musical Choices

Processional: Gray Pumpelly played the mandolin for the entry music

Recessional: Lumbrero played the cocktail hour

First Dance: We danced to the sounds of Diossa from the beginning until the end of the reception.

Top notch wines were a top priority for the couple, and throughout the wedding weekend guests enjoyed local natural wines from Xoler and Octágono.

DJ Dani Ossa was on hand providing Lauren, Tyler, and their guests with the communal dance party of their dreams.
