Today we have a couple that wasn’t afraid to make their wedding loud, colorful and wild! When Ellie + Adam began planning their wedding, they knew they wanted to focus on the guest experience, making things memorable and honoring their cultures in the process. When they found the brand new Rolling Greens DTLA, they knew it was the perfect unique wedding venue. Though everyone told them they were crazy, they pulled off this insanely rad urban wedding in just three months! With the help of event planners Details, Darling they designed a downtown LA oasis complete with graffiti on the walls, bright florals, sequin dresses, and fun nods to Russian culture.
From E:
We chose a venue with a unique point of view that we knew no one had tried, as we were Rolling Greens DTLA’s first wedding. We made sure the music and cocktails were amazing and easily accessible. In bringing 2 families and traditions together we wanted to include a nod to where we came from so we both wore our respective grandparents’ ring and had Russian elements like a caviar bar, vodka on the table and seating assignments hung from mini Moscow mule cups.

Cutie Patooties
First look moments get us every time!
Sparkling Style
We love the modern sparkles these ladies are rocking! E’s stunning Jenny Packham gown has the daintiest blush-toned sequin floral appliques and the silver sequin Rachel Zoe bridesmaids dress is so striking and fun! Such pretty ladies and James Charles finished off their wedding day looks with glam makeup! Find more modern sequin dress inspiration below:
Vibrant Wedding Flowers
E knew that she loved warm tones but other than that, she gave her florist and event stylist, Shindig Chic, complete freedom to create some magic! Designs included a cool mix of traditional fluffy blooms like garden roses and ranunculus along with funky varieties like protea and anthurium.
Pretty sure these guys were on a mission to steal the show!
So sweet!!
For me (Adam), it was watching Ellie shake it and do a little shimmy down the aisle with our family/friends as a backdrop.
For me (Ellie), it was walking 7 circles around my husband while dancing to All of the Lights instrumental.
Urban Wedding Vibes
Seriously, the detail on E’s gown is perfection!! These two are such a stylish couple. We’re also loving A’s blue velvet jacket. If you’re looking for something equally fashion forward, check out more of our favorite suits with a pop of color!
Look at all of that color!! We love how E’s bright flowers complemented the colorful graffiti on the walls of the reception venue.
Graffiti Shots
Talk about the perfect photo backdrop for an urban wedding!
Processional: Everlong (Foo Fighters) acoustic for the groom and bridal party + All of the Lights (violin cover) for the bride
Recessional: You Are The Best Thing (Ray LaMontagne)
First Dance: So Into You (Childish Gambino cover of Tamia)
All the love to the newlyweds!!
Urban Wedding Oasis
LA Party Rents was there to totally transform this industrial and urban wedding venue into an oasis for guests to enjoy. Loads of tropical plants graced every inch of the space, while wooden canoes, overflowing with plant life, hung from the ceiling. Such a cool focal spot don’t you think??
Nods to Russian Culture
Fun and punny escort card displays have been on-trend lately. E + A used theirs to pay homage to their heritage. Shindig Chic shares:
Since Ellie is Russian, they decided to play homage to that with mini monogrammed moscow mule shot glasses that doubled as escort cards.. and a bottle of vodka waiting for guests at each table! Instead of champagne for toasts, it was shots all around.
Here are some more rad escort card displays to spark your creativity!
Fresh Aesthetic
Don’t you love the contrast between the lush florals and plants up against the industrial structure of this LA urban wedding venue??
Bud vases filled with single flower varieties can add fun texture to a tablescape and let each bloom have its moment to shine!
Don’t spend a year, the longer you have the longer it takes. We planned a 250 person banger of a wedding in 3 months! Get the flow of the evening down. If you want time for dancing and good momentum, get speeches done quickly and gently tell your crew to try and keep it under 2 minutes.
Happily Ever After
Ellie + Adam, it was such a treat to get to see your creativity! We are totally loving the fun colors and unique vibes you brought to your urban wedding day. Congratulations from the GWS team!
