You might not think to pair Western and European together, but one quick glance through these stunning pictures proves IT WORKS! When Sarah + Loïc began planning their backyard wedding, they knew they wanted to honor both of their cultures, but also be surrounded by everything they both love. For them, that included warm color, Spanish tile details, Dutch-inspired antiques, and Western Wear. For their reception, they combined family heirlooms, handmade signage, and mismatched dinnerware (that they shopped together!) to create an inviting atmosphere for their guests.
S shared more with us about how their combination style took shape:
For our big day there was never a question of where we wanted to make our memories. We knew instantly that we would be married at my parents So Cal Spanish Home, Hidden Hacienda Farms. From there, bringing together everything we love led us on our crazy wedding planning journey, and we wouldn’t change a thing . My family being Dutch, I have always loved Delft blue inspired pottery and all things Van Gogh . While growing up in our Spanish Style home, I was surrounded by terra cotta and rich hand painted tiles. Loïc, on the other hand, is my french-man-turned-cowboy. He is happiest when wearing his hat with a glass of whiskey in hand, and being in the great outdoors. Good people, and great music make him a truly happy man.

Spanish Tile Details
How cute are these earrings that S gifted to her bridesmaids?? We love how each girl has something unique! She mentioned that she and her sister had matching hand painted earrings inspired by the Delft Blue pottery she loves!
Girl Squad Goals!
S and her girls looked beyond adorable in BHLDN getting ready robes! Again, we love how each girl’s personality and sense of style gets a chance to shine!
Bridal Style
S was a slinky and chic vision in her Made with Love ‘Billie’ gown from Lovely Bride. She paired it with a stunning fringe New Phrenology ‘Amulet’ veil and adorable textured Anthropologie shoes. It made her look beautiful and effortless with the perfect touch of Western style!
Mismatched Bridesmaids
You guys know how much we love mismatched bridesmaids dresses! S’s girls nailed the color palette of warm yellow, rust, nude and blue with these beautiful gowns from Show Me Your Mumu, BHLDN and Fame and Partners. They look totally chic but also ready for a relaxed backyard wedding!

Dutch-Inspired Florals
Region Design Studio took inspiration from some of S’s favorite Dutch painters. These gorgeous flowers were all designed to look like Golden Age still life masterpieces! They absolutely nailed it!!
Lookin’ good boys! L and his dapper gentlemen wore bolo ties that were owned by L’s grandfather and we are in love! This is Western done right!

Backyard Wedding Ceremony
In love with this sweet and simple arch design featuring S + L’s favorite tile-inspired color palette! This is perfect proof that a backyard wedding can still be stylish and elegant!
Yay! They’re hitched!
Our wedding was in a sense a giant collection of all of our favorite things. We celebrated our European heritage with plates and champagne tours. Got country with hats and whiskey. Spent time collecting together and making everything by hand. Honoring family members by bringing their heirlooms to life to create something truly unforgettable.
Wedding Western Wear
Giddy up Y’all! S + L wowed in their Western reception wear. How cute are they?! L’s black western top is from Ely Cattleman.

Love the attention to detail S + L!! They made their table numbers from broken tiles leftover from home projects. That’s how you get crafty for wedding day, folks!
Mismatched Tableware
We love to hear about fun things the bride and groom did together to prep for wedding day! S shared this about how she and L styled their reception:
With all of our independent loves and passions; If there’s something we both live for, its antiquing. Finding old, handmade, one of a kind items to decorate our walls and fill our home is our favorite past time. Family heirlooms fill us with joy and give us stories that last a lifetime. We collected plates and centerpiece vessels with Spanish colors or delft blue designs from friends, family, and our favorite antique spots. The collecting did not end until every guest had something extra special in front of them at our wedding.
We would most definitely hang our hat at this adorable sweetheart table!
With sweets from Persimmon and Brie and cake from Pollys Pies, S + L’s dessert table was ON POINT!
My advice to any bride would be to stay focused on what you love. Trends are fun and inspiring but nothing beats being surrounded by everything that matters to you.
Congratulations Sarah + Loïc!! We are beyond impressed with how you merged your two individual styles into one incredible backyard wedding! The GWS team wishes you both all the best married life has to offer!
